Do you believe in Good or evil or do people just react differntly to thier enviorment?

ex- If Hitler was born into Mother Teresas family would he have killed the jews?
ex- If mao was born into Gandhis world and his family would mao have been "evil"?

    Just wondering what you think

I believe in a spectrum of personality types resulting form a diverse gene pool and socialization scenarios. Some are gonna be super violent, others will be super kind, the vast majority will be somewhere inbetween.

We as individuals are products of the choices that we make in life, and our genetics, environment, and circumstances are absolutely huge roles in those choices. We are also the only ones responsible for the choices we make.

If you really think about it, we have control over so little in our lives even though we possess free will. That is why we must cling to that small bit of control and never let go so long as we live.

there is only one evil as i see it, and that is to knowingly and willfully cause avoidable and uncoerced suffering.

i cannot buy into the goodness of a god, who would forbid and obstruct "utopias" and "ecotopias", while doing nothing to prevent the rise and fall of endless successions of tyranny. but i have no difficulty at all, accepting the existence of something friendly, invisible and too big to arm wrestle over the seating araingements, but not otherwise infallable. and a lot of little friendly invisible and insubstantial beings, for the most part harmless, and in no conflict with that one or more greater one.

i can't buy into evil being personified either, nor in morality having anything to do with belief.

i don't see how anything like us could exist, if anything like the christian's devil (or the 'demons' of several other beliefs for that matter) existed also. no mater how much more powerful then it something well intended might be.

Good and evil are fabrications. If we understand good to be what is ultimately beneficial to humankind, and evil as what is ultimately detrimental, we cannot help but admit that we know neither.

As Silverwolf says, we control so little of our lives despite our free will.

However, I say don't hang on to your command, but become it!

Evil exists, but good does not. What else exists is those that are neither good nor evil. You're either on the neither side or the evil side as astral pojectors are. Astral projectors are dark beings.

evil is created by acting stupid. no god or gods have a damd thing to do with it.

nor is it judged and punished, but rather has statisticly probable consiquences, that among these are the effects of doing so, upon the kind of world we all have to live in.

generally all the kinds of things people generally bitch about.

I love your questions RebelFight :) Here's my answers and opinions -

    1. I don't believe in good or evil, when your able to get past the BS the media and government say, you'll realize that the only "evil" ones are the people who are telling us we need to go kill other people in other countries.

    2. Hitler didn't only kill jews - he killed a LOT more other people in many other countries.

    3. Mao, just like many others, was brainwashed and believed that killing was more powerful than peace. Just look at the republicans, they want to go slaughter Iran now and for what? Becuase they want cheap Nuclear Power? WHO CARES! Let them do what they want - Peace is more powerful than a gun

    Great topic !!!

hmm you say that 'We are also the only ones responsible for the choices we make.' but also 'we have control over so little in our lives even though we possess free will.'

the lack of control that we have over where our life goes etc.. i think definetly reduces the amount that we are responsible for our actions.
YES we are responsible in the sense that we performed the action/choice
but.. it is hard to place blame because of the many catylists involved in effecting the decisions we make.
