I just bought 2 tabs of acid, one for me and my best friend who's done acid before. I never have. I've also been on antidepressants for 5-6 years. This summer I switched meds and now I'm taking a 25mg dose of amitriptyline. I've read that mixing it with acid is very bad. Would it be safe to go off my meds temporarily to try acid? In the 5-6 years I've been taking antidepressants I've gone off them multiple times and the effects are not extreme. I'm a bit more pessimistic and have more frequent mood swings but don't usually go into a full on episode of depression. Would acid affect this? If going off temporarily is a safe thing to do, how long will it take for the meds to be out of my system? I'm really curious to try acid as a one time thing for the experience, I'm just making sure it would be worth it.

I'd reccommend more than 1 hit if its a 1 time thing. Many times 1 hit doesnt produce the full spectrum psychedelic effects of an LSD trip. However there are other chems which can be passed off as LSD which don't have a similar safety profile, so that's a tentative reccommendation depending on the trust you have in your source.

If you have gone off the antidepressants before I think you'd probably know how you respond better than others would. I would reccommend going off the antidepressants, and yes LSD can cause significant mood changes.

Sounds like Russian Roulette to me. From my experience--you never know what will transpire. Frankly, I don't think you should just take a 'hit or miss' attitude with L, until you have a handle on your depression. In addition--who knows what crap is in the stuff nowadays. Of course what I say makes no difference, but BE CAREFUL.

Yes take two or three. You will need that much to equal the amount that was in a hit in the 60's. Just be sure you do not have NBOME. A numbing sensation in the mouth is a sure sign you do not have LSD. Two or three NBOME could be very bad.

1.) Make sure its real LSD. As others have mentioned, numbing/sour taste is not a good sign, spit that shit out. Trust your source. Ask around, see what others say about those tabs. And if its real, STOCK UP.

2.) I would take at LEAST 2. As bedlam stated, one hit is no where near a real L experience. First times are magical, so get another tab or two :)

3.) Stop taking your meds DAYS before you plan to trip. My buddy back in high school only stopped his meds for a day before his first trip with me. And... lets just say it could have went A LOT better for him. So make sure that garbage is out of your system before dropping any LSD.

4.) Have fun! Remember, just ride the wave. Don't fight it, let go. If you happen to get some good clean tabs, the experience is just amazing. Changed my life for sure!

Stopping your meds is a bad idea.
I know I go fucking batty being off my meds for two days and then to trip on top of that chaos? And then the body has to get used to the meds again when you're done.

i have never heard of that antidepressant but SSRIs do decrease the effect of lsd. makes the trip weaker. it is possible to be "depressed" and on antidepressants and have an alright lsd trip. but perhaps you should read up on possible effects that lsd can have on underlying mental illness. there are a few current threads in this forum as well as plenty of articles about it.

i always viewed antidepressants and antipsychotics as pushing the mind on one direction, while lsd and psychedelics pushed your mind in the opposite direction -- that of expanding it.
