your exposed soles can actually feel the ground like all the pointy stones used in concrete or just smooth plain concrete and DAMN all the different temperatures of different paving materials according to composition and color and whether they’re in the shade or out in the sun and black can be way hotter than white and grass WOW that’s a whole different thing anyhow and you hop onto a dirt trail that can be pretty tricky what with stones and sticks and... What? EXCUSE ME?? This is a barefoot forum? All these people already know this stuff? GET THE FUCK OUT! Really??? Damn, I thought this was a SHOE forum about sneakers and sports-wear and shit like that I just wanted people to know there’s another way to roll. OK. I guess I’ll just delete this. My bad...
"But surprisingly, barefoot hikers aren't necessarily thrill-seekers. They're better described as sensation-seekers, with some comparing it to the foot's equivalent of wine tasting.[2] With practice and attentiveness, your feet can adapt to the great outdoors, and anyone can experience a hike in a whole new way. Here is a suggested approach for the beginning barefoot hiker." How to Start Barefoot Hiking: 8 Steps (with Pictures) - wikiHow That webpage said it best IMO "the foot's equivalent of wine tasting" The hot and cools spots textures ect. That article could have been better if they explained how that beginning part where every little pebble feels like a tragedy goes away in a week if you keep at it. I don't even know how I would word it for beginners. In the beginning it kind of sucks cause your feet are broken from shoes and will hurt after walking half a block but don't give up that change happens fast. No that sucks. Like to add to that article but I don't know how to word it. What sucks is people are really missing out I know cause I was one of those for too long that thought without shoes I unable to navigate the world cause I never went without shoes long enough to get my natural feet back.
People who don't go barefoot don't understand the difference until they try it. When you walk, you use sight, hearing and smell to know where you are going and what you doing. But when you are barefoot, it adds a whole other sense - touch. You feel the ground as you go on. When you go walking through a lovely city centre, you admire the buildings. In the forest, you admire the natural smell. You hear the birds tweeting. With barefeet, you feel the ground too. You feel the surface and the contours, you see how a quaint farm is different to a bustling city street under your feet, just as you would when you smell and see the place. Once you go barefoot, you just can't go back. You lose an entire sense, an entire feeling. A bit like not being able to see where you are going, or smell the surroundings. You feel an empty chasm. The desire to have such a chasm is the reason why I never, ever wear shoes. Not unless I desperately need to.
I enjoy being barefoot when I can. Nothing like it and your closer to nature. Also most times I'm barefoot and bare ass.
Nudism is something I've never come around to. There are no negatives, but resisting societal stigma around barefooting is the most I can do, any further than that such as nudism is something that I will never be able to do. Kudos to you for being able to do that.
Quite exquisitely put. The main attraction for me is the feelings under my bare soles and the constantly changing heats and textures with every single step. Like you say almost another sense.
