Hey I was wondering if anyone here was planning on going to the protest in New York on August 29 at the Republican national convention. I was looking for a place to stay that's somewhat near by. Anyone have any ideas?
I am not going, but I do have to saw, please be careful. The haven't handed out any permits to protest (that I know of yet) so it looks like they might be just waiting for trouble.
I'm sure there will be some hotel rooms in North Jersey. If can find a hotel room (or any relatively inexpensive lodging), you'll be able to find a bus or train that can take you into the city.
impeach adolf bush, and charge him with crimes against humanity, genocide, and various other war crimes, this is the u.s.a.,not the u.s.s.a. rainbow doobie
You are basically protesting people's right to assemble, and the elements of democracy we have in our nation. (Since it is a democratic republic). What's the point of protesting that or the DNC convention, or any political party for that matter?
It is not really protesting their right to assemble, it is more about having all the assholes in one place lined up and ready for the kicking.
it's pretty interesting to see that the rightwing still "patrol" this website on a daily basis...perhaps a small contigent of those working to enforce the "patriot act"? anyway, for information regarding the RNC protests, check out: www.rncnotwelcome.org www.counterconvention.org www.chicagonewyork.net www.rncwatch.org www.democracynow.org Hundred of thousands of people from all over the country are expected to converge on midtown manhattan...with some planning and coordinating non-violent civil disobedience. A clash a cultures is imminent....
>>>>>You are basically protesting people's right to assemble, and the elements of democracy we have in our nation. (Since it is a democratic republic). What's the point of protesting that or the DNC convention, or any political party for that matter? We're not protesting the fact that they're assembling..We're taking the advantage of they fact that they are to protest them and their policies. We WANT them to assemble and aren't trying to stop them. And if we were protesting someone's right to assemble, that's also a freedom covered by the "elements of democracy." We can protest another person's right as long as we don't infringe on it. givepeaceachance, I have lots of friends in New York City, and I'm sure I can find you a place to stay if you need it. Give me your email or email me and I'll contact you closer to that time.
I'm not. I have repeatedly stated my Libertarian views, I am no right winger by any means. It's foolish for someone to sit there and call me a right winger when I'm clearly not.
Just curious but what does one hope to accomplish by protesting a party conference? How tight is the security going to be?? I would think that any protestors would be like 10 miles away. Are protestors going to be able to get close enough to even be noticed??
i will be attending the convention in new york, with full plans to demonstate. anyone who feels the same and plans on doing the same, iw ould love to hear from you!!!
:H Protestors beware. Go, and protest, it's your right. However, be on the look out for instigators of violence. Remember 1968. Republicans would like nothing better than for violence to errupt. I would bet that there will be those there who will see to it that it does. Then they can be "justified" in hauling all those who express their freedom of speech and their right to assemble off to jail. If violence does errupt, make sure it's not you who starts it and try utmost to see to it that the bruts who DO start it are seen. This administration wants to stop all those who oppose their positions and actions and if they can silence the voice of dissent, all the better for them. If they can't do it legally, they will do it illegally with "plants" in the crowds to start the shit. So please be careful. Tho I can't be there physically, I will be with you in spirit. Just remember these wise words... There's something happening here What it is ain't exactly clear There's a man with a gun over there Telling me I got to beware I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound Everybody look what's going down There's battle lines being drawn Nobody's right if everybody's wrong Young people speaking their minds Getting so much resistance from behind I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound Everybody look what's going down What a field-day for the heat A thousand people in the street Singing songs and carrying signs Mostly say, hooray for our side It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound Everybody look what's going down Paranoia strikes deep Into your life it will creep It starts when you're always afraid You step out of line, the man come and take you away We better stop, hey, what's that sound Everybody look what's going down Stop, hey, what's that sound Everybody look what's going down Stop, now, what's that sound Everybody look what's going down Stop, children, what's that sound Everybody look what's going down
Because the democratic party no longer represents the working class, or the real americans anymore, and the republican party, well, i think that should be self explanatory why people would protet there... Peace and Love, Dan
:$ You are not protesting peoples right to assemble. You are protesting TO those people assembled. You are there to voice your disagreement with their policies. You are there to show your dissatisfaction with the way they have been running things. Not the "delegates per se, but the parties that they support. If you think it's ok for your government to kill innocent people around the world so they can increase bottom lines for those companies that foot the bill to get them into office, if you like the fact that your government is controlled by the Oil Cartel and Corporate gonglmerates, if you think it's ok for the government to put you under surveillence for no good reason, if you think it's ok to have your elections sabotaged and people denied the right to vote for no good reason, if you like the fact that both parties are bought and sold by corporate America and that those very corporations are the ones in control of your government, if you like the fact that eventually the only free speech that will be allowed is that which supports the ruling class then by all means stay at home and set your apathetic ass down on your couch and watch it all on your local FoxNews channel.
Okay, fair enough I see your point. I am not apathetic the least bit. I am, like you, against a 2 party system, I am a libertarian for the most part, and I am registered voter as a libertarian. Chill the fuck out, I was just asking your motives that's all.
