Many Christians are quick to dismiss those who say that God told them to do some heinous sin*, such as murdering people or blowing up abortion clinics. But do they have the right to dismiss such people? Just like they believe that their God wants them to be nice, the others seriously believe that God told them to carry their actions out. Unless you are not a believer do you really have any right to believe that things such as "George Bush could not have received his orders from God" are really not true? *I'm using the word 'sin' for lack of a better term.
Very good point. To these individuals, however, it is a matter of correcting all who are 'wrong' by their standards, and praising all who fit within their perception of reality.
Well they definitly have a right to dismiss them by saying such things like "So and so does not have a monopoly on beliefs" or "I do not think said action is Christ-like according to the canon Gospels". Also, I definitly think everyone has a right to dismiss things and say when they disagree with someone. However, when simple statements of dissagreement turn into harassment (ie. If I were a Roman Catholic and everyday a prodestant missionary came to my door and screamed at me about how my faith is pagan and Satanist...then I do believe that has crossed the line to harrasment). I do not think it is right to say that "so and so isn't a real Christian" though, because it is such a loose label. and hey Chuck--there are one or two of us
Blowing up abortion clinics or trying to intimidate people into Christianity is WRONG. Flat out wrong. God does not tell people to blow up abortion clinics. How can I say that's wrong? Well, where in the New Testament did any followers of Christ (Christians) do any of this? NOWHERE. We are never taught by Jesus Christ to kill people who don't agree with us. It says LOVE your enemies. LOVE them. I'm not going to sit here with the who's a Christian and who's not a Christian. Maybe these people will at some point repent. But, killing in the name of Christ has ALWAYS been wrong. I do believe in self defense. But, killing a woman who is having an abortion...Something I am personally against...Is a sin. It doesn't even make sense on a logical level. These abortion clinics are full of murderers let's kill them? Huh? I have every right to dismiss these actions. These people are clouding and ignoring basic principles of Christianity. Okay, so I'm not a perfect Christian right? Of course I'm not. I'm not near perfect. That being said Christian brothers have the right to call me out. That blonde turns my head. Say I cheat on my taxes. Curse somebody. I struggle to this day with not wishing some awful things on George W. Bush. I'm not supposed to do it. No matter what he did. Now I won't say said brothers are going to hell. I don't believe Christians should even discuss that. That's JUDGEMENT. Discerning right from wrong though is a different ball game. If you're a Christian do you have to get into a cab where the driver has a bloody axe? Hey don't judge that guy he might have been chopping down a tree and hurt his hand!
Burbot I could never have said it without you getting the ball rolling. You sir inspire me! QUICK TO THE BATCAVE! BTW Politics thought provoking question thank you.
Pah...Batcave? I am Kent Allard. I don't need a batcave. I wil use my network of agents and the power to cloud men's minds to ....ahh, that joke went nowhere
