I know this is sort of a strange question....BUT: I just got a new bowl tonight, and it's nice and thick. So would there be any problems if I left it in my secret outdoor hiding spot? Can good bowls generally withstand cold weather?

yeah i've stuck glass in the freezer (dont ask) with water in it...it broke the glass, but just cause water expands, showing the glass stayed still. and if it were true that glass fucks in cold weather, people who own windows would be having a shitty time.
^right, i was gonna bring up windows. I'm sure your piece will be fine, bro. Will just get cold. Maybe let it warm up first, though, before smoking from it. the sudden heat might crack it. (that might be bullshit, I don't know if it would or wouldn't)
there is a major concern i'd have which would be smoking it imediately after having had it stashed outside in really cold weather for a while, or putting it out in cold weather imediately after having smoked it. while glass wont expand with cold weather like water, it will contract with the cold (like most other substances) rapid heating and cooling of glass OFTEN results not only in cracking, but at times even with all out shattering. if you put a glass baking dish in the oven with nothing on it, let it heat up pretty high, and then put water in it, it will break into a shitload of shards of glass that go everywhere. i wouldnt be too concerned with it shattering like this, but it is entirely possible that it could crack a good deal when the temperature changes quickly. therefore, if you want to keep a glass peice outside you'll be fine, but just make sure you let it warm up before smoking it, and let it cool down before replacing it.
^^^I experimented with that one time. I put rubbing alcohol in a shot glass and lit it on fire. Then I sprayed it with some water and the glass shattered. It was cool as fucking shit because I was stoned at the time and found it rather funny.
i learned the hard way. had an empty dish left in the oven, and didnt remember. preheated it, then i didnt have room for the food! but i couldnt just let the hot glass dish sit on the hotpads, cause then i couldnt get my food out when it was ready....so i decided to take a shortcut and cool it off with some water.....now this was a large, heavy (i'm guessing maybe 2-3 pounds) baking dish....heard a LOUD cracking sound and heard shards of glass hitting walls and stuff. i have no idea how i did that at such close range without getting glass in my face or anything. thank god i wasn't cooking naked!! (it happens once in a while if you live alone...)

dude...just put it in an air tight bag...so when it rains cold water wont get in there....and u kno what happens when cold water mixes with glass *SHATTERRRRR*....but yea let it pre heat before lighting up a bowl.

now that i think about it, there was this guy i went to his house before he was like 29, anyways, he kept his glass bong in the fridge w/ water alrdy in it, and he took it out we packed it and smoked it right away, the slider piece was fine w/ the heat after being in fridge atleast that time. i asked him why he dont just put cold water in it before he uses it and well i guess its more effiicent to jsut pull it out of the fridge. who knows if his bong ever cracked from doing it, but im pretty sure hes been doing it for a long time.
