If animals mostly or maybe always don't like ghosts and they growl and hiss, than how do you an animal would act to a ghost that was an animal lover in their life or how 'bout animals reaction to their human companion?
I imagine the animal would act the same as if the ghost were just a normal "living" stranger or someone they knew. They are, after all, the same as us without their physical form.
