I dont kno if there is already a thread about this, I didnt see one, but I was just wondering if u guys had any tips on how to get my dreads started? I have decided that Im gonna start my dreads at Christmas time. After thanksgiving, because Im going to visit my mum n she aint too happy with this idea. She wont be really pissed if I dread my hair, I just dont want to hear nagging for the whole holiday. So Im startin em around Christmas time n all tips/help would be MUCHLY appreciated.

see, thats the thing, i dont kno all that much about dreads but I know I would love to have them. I kno i wanna keep em natural, not really mess pamper em, but i want them to lock up relatively quickly. i just need to kno, at the beginning of the process do i still wash my hair. i kno im not supposed to condition it but I wasnt so sure about the washing it. I know that u wash it as the locks form more tho. and are there any products or anything that would help/keep my hair healthy in the process?

If you backcomb them, they'll look pretty much like dreads right after you do them.

    www.dreadheadhq.com
    www.knottyboy.com

They have really good backcombing instructions.
Ignore their schpiels about using wax. You DON'T need it.

thanks :D those websites are really helpful :)

and yeah, i have considered just lettin em do it on their own but i really want em to form quicker than that. so i think imma do a bit of backcombing and then leave them alone after i do that.
