For the past two weekends I have been out in 45F weather for a couple of hours after dark and I've had trouble staying warm and recovering from it when I get home.

Even though I was bundled up really well, my body temp after I'd gotten home has been down to 96.3 the first weekend and 97.2 last night. It makes me feel really "ick" and I have to go to bed.

I think I'm going to have to stay out of the cold after the sun goes down.

Does anyone else have trouble with this?

    I feel like a looser.

    All of the time.

I usually take a really hot shower afterwards. It usually helps pretty well.

In winter after night shift I feel so cold that it makes me feel sick but that could also be the lack of sleep.

I agree about a hot shower. I have an electric blanket in winter too, this is probably a bit weak seeing as I live in Australia and the coldest day I have ever felt is probably around 50.

Yep that's weak, bro. =p at least it can get to -7*C in Canberra lol.

I always find if my feet, hands and nose are warm then I am also warm. So thermal socks and gloves and try to keep my face warm. I've also learned to make hands and feet umm pump or throb my slapping my boots on my toes and my hands on the table to make them sore and get the blood throbbing. If I wear steel caps I heat then in the fire place first so my toes get warm but when the steel freezes again it can be annoying if feet aren't warm yet. But other than that no I I don't get sick or feel like I get ill from cold weather. I enjoy it, embrace it, I feel alive in it.

Which city do you live in?

We initially moved to Canberra because we heard it was similar to whre we lived in Germany, which it wasn't really but I really did like it.

    Thanks for the tips.

I wear 2 pairs of socks in leather boots.

My gloves are cheap. I probably need better gloves and thermal socks.

The feet moving and hands clapping is easy because I'm out watching my grandkids play ball tournaments, lol

Oh true, Adelaide is ridiculously hot from memory in the Summer months.
Not sure what the rest of the German immigrants were thinking moving down there lol.

I hate being cold. Snow? Uh-uh. Never. My kids knew I hated to be cold, so when I was in the shower they'd throw ice water over the top

of the enclosure! Squealed like a pig and they loved it. It was a good trick, so I didn't get mad at them. Just carried on to help with

    their amusement.

Ridiculously hot is a great description of our summer. It's spring here and we already had a day of 40C

Sorry to hijack your thread Aerianne...I hope you are feeling warmer soon.

Warm bath would be better than shower, but the shower is a good idea too..
Few things Ive noticed with MS are unregulated body temps. Im so fucked when it gets cold. But I am getting better, I still have PTSD from prior cold problems.

Heat is in the legs specially when moving. To keep that heat, you could wear a jumpsuit thats open on the inside to let the heat flow back up to the belly and chest. /you might look like an idiot with a snow suit on in the fall. But they have lighter jumpsuits .. Inside your jumpsuit you can wear light stretchy yoga pants layered, as well as tights. Yoga/stretchy pants layered is a good way to go under wind breakers .. "Under Armor" is good too, but kinda costly. It can be worth the money.

Keep neck wrapped with a tight knit material scarf. Wear a hat, cover your ears.

While out more than a few hours. try changing your socks 1/2 way. this will let the sweat to evaporate and air out, put on a fresh pair of socks, you will probably even feel warmer.

Try not to sweat to much but sweat is good too. .. Nothing you can really do other than stay out the wind and cold. But the first initial brush with cold will feel colder than it actually is. This isnt just you., its AIR PRESSURE and little to do with the wind itself.
Change in humidity, drier colder air evaporates the sweat fast. Much like Air conditioning turned up to high .. What you do to stay warmer is raise the humidity. Humidifier..

Yeah, Orison, I think they body heat regulation for me is fucked by the Fibromyalgia.

I wore layered pants last weekend when I knew the wind was going to brutal.

Yesterday, the wind was less and it only got to 45F degrees.

I am going to have to invest in some thermal socks and some thinsulate gloves.

I had a headband over my ears and two hoods.

I wore my fleece and flannel cloak over the hoodie.

I just think my thermostat is wonky.

Orison---a hat AND a scarf really make a differance.

additionally moisturizer and something to keep the air from wisping away your sweat.. Internal lubricant that come from Fish. aka fish oils. this also good for fibromyalgia.

A little hvac psychometrics / The skin needs a certain amount of moisture. When humidity is low you feel colder. This feeling of being colder occurs because the moisture evaporating from your skin has a cooling effect. Dry air is like a sponge; it soaks up moisture from wherever it can. The drier the sponge the faster it will soak up moisture and the colder you will feel regardless of the actual temperature in your home. @ 69F temperature at 35% relative humidity feels just as warm as a 72F setting at 19% relative humidity. Yes this makes no sense, but you can easy map it out on a psychometrics chart. The easiest way to feel to the most comfortable is to add humidity to the air in your home.

Your thyroid plays a large role in regulating body temperature and being cold. People with suppressed thyroid function often complain of being cold and often have cold hands and feet.
