has anyone listened to this album by the white stripes yet????? I think its really good. the first single, blue orchid, never really did anything for me, then I heard "my doorbell" very catchy.... some nice piano. rest of the album kicks anyways, good album!! as good as elephant, I think.
haven't heard it except a single I think. Funny, people say no current popular bands know how to rock
ok listening to it now...sounds like they are trying to experiment with their sound....I'm undecided, but there's a lot to be said with sticking to the structure and... hold on
yes, there is alot of piano in this album. I feel it will push alot of white stripes fans away, but may gain new ones.... its very different than all other stripes albums they can still rock. check out the nurse, my doorbell, forever for her, take take take..... there is even a bluegrass tune "little ghost"
I'm liking it so far. Its different but still doing what those two do really...I've always thought they were pretty good...not the best, but the rare detroit garagy band to get attention
i really liked it it was very creative, i liked how they used dthe marimba......and i really like "in the cold cold night"
its alright. im glad they are expanding their sound with more piano and such, with less guitar, but i have always been more fond of albums like "de stijl" and "white blood cells".
I didn't get it at first...but it grew on me. Being a pretty big Stripes fan, it kinda caught me by surprise. But now i'm hooked, I love the album. "The Nurse" is by far my favorite track, the lyrics are incredibly creepy, as is the whole song. Although I still really like their old stuff: Lafayette Blues, Hand Springs, & De Stijl, this album is really like no other.
the nurse has a psychedelic feel to it.... kind of mid 60s garage band..... I think of it as a heavier version of "under my thumb"
When I first bought the album I didn't like it what so ever, then I started listening to it in the shower. Being a White Stripes fan I had to give it more then one listen and found out that it grew on me. It's a great album but not their best. "Little Ghost" and "I'm lonely but I ain't that yet" (is this song a cover?) have to be my two favorite songs.
I love it. I got it for my birthay. It's rather creepy, as someone said before, but very very good. The nurse is a very good song, and that other song, lonely I believe it's called, love that one too.
I've been a white stripes fan for a few years now, and as my taste in music has totally changed, i still love them. Infact, the white stripes and the vines are the only new bands i listen to.
I love it...loved the earlier albums but this one just seems to be so much more....atmospheric Lookin' forward to the next one already...
