So I was waiting for my Dad at the grocery store today.. And I was sitting down and I saw this young-ish Asian couple come in with their little baby. The kid was less than a year old.

They took one of those shopping carts that have the baby-seat. And then, before putting their baby in the seat, the Mom took one of those sanitized lemon wipes and wiped the seat for a full minute. And they still put some jacket underneath the baby before seating him!

    WTF.

You should have beaten that baby up and took his place... shoving that kid in with the heads of lettuce first... and they would totally wipe your seat for you too. Don't be hatin'.

Maybe the baby has or had medical issues in the past and the parents are overly cautious. Perhaps he was born premature, has a weakened immune system. Hey, you never know.

Now if the parents are just being paranoid, well, it's probably their first child. Believe me, I was way more laid back when I had my twins as opposed to my firstborn. My goodness, I was a freak. At least I can look back and admit it, and laugh.

I wasnt a freak about Jack, but I was very nervous all the time about him harming himself/getting sick and the like. But now he's huge, he talks, and hes wild child and Im a little more relaxed about him! Well, a lot more relaxed actually :D

I think that's true too, RELAYER. As your child gets older, you tend to relax a bit more about things. I know I have. Thank goodness!

The handles of shopping carts, and I would also think the seats in them, are FULL of germs. I think they were perfectly justified.

Honestly I do too. I dont think that comes even close to being a germaphobe, I mean it's not like they had full hazmat gear on and a cleaning crew. They just wiped down a seat. What if a kid pees in a seat? You think they ever wash carts? Now what if, over time, a thousand kids pee in that seat? Think about it.

Yeah those seats have to be nasty as fuck. Kids shitting in them, sneezing all over them, drooling, I can only imagine.

I don't think I would wipe them down, but then again I'm not a parent yet. It actually sounds pretty smart. Obessively washing your hands with antibacterials is different, thats germaphobes.

i dont see anything wrong with that. I carr anitbacterial wipes with me in my purse, and I dont have kids. Well, It ould be that Im a caretaker, so I have to stay healthy for my job, but sometimes its better to be safe than sorry. Also, ever since I got salmonella poisoning, I am religious about surface sanitation and food being clean washed and as clean as possible. I cant go through that again.

You guys must not have much of a MRSA outbreak there. Here they provide little antibacterial wipes to wipe the handles and baby seats in carts because there's been so many MRSA cases in the area.
