I just received a magazine from Gerber about my "4-6 month old Gerber baby". I was glancing through while eating my dinner and saw a page on "Rest Easy.....Try these steps to help make every night a good night". And, sure enough, number 3 on the list (at least it wasn't #1) was "Try Ferberizing". Ugh.....I guess the part about "make every night a good night" wasn't concerning the baby, but the parents.....although I don't know how listening to your baby scream and cry is a "good night" either. Then at the bottom of the article it says, ".....if you're sharing a room with baby, consider moving him to his own room......" Ummm.....no thanks???? THEN.....in another ignorant article, it says babies should remain in a rear-facing seat until "he is one year old OR weighs 20 lbs." Sooo.....does that mean my 5.5 month old can face-forward? She weighs 21 lbs...... Thanks for letting me vent. Now I'm going to have to boycott Gerber too!! Heehee....
who else do you boycott? just curious...and why? i don't have any children, but i plan to someday. my best friend has an 11 month old son and i like to read the parenting forums cuz i spend lots of time with him! i also pass information i read here to her.
another reason to boycott gerber: they make the crappiest breastpumps in the universe, which could of course sabotage a pumping mother's breastfeeding relationship. ...and then, if a mom cant pump, she's more likely to buy formula... and gerber makes a lot of artificial baby milk...so it's good business for them to make pumps that dont work. blech the ferberizing thing also sabotages breastfeeding relationships. if baby isnt close to mama at night (cosleeping), baby is getting breastfed less often...then milk supply diminishes and voila, more formula sales for gerber. corporations make me sick. it's all about the money. ps, i try to boycott all the big corps that i can and buy local whenever possible
Yeah....what she said! I do tend to shop at Target sometimes, but generally avoid big corps. I like to buy from WAHMs and thrift stores. For groceries, we shop at a little market down the street. We also grow some of our own produce, but we didn't get much this year because we moved in the middle of the summer.
well that is just stupid... I hate hearing Trey cry.. everytime he cries I want to cry. Mom yells at me for 'running' to him as soon as he starts crying. i mean yea i let him 'vocalise' and stuff but i can't stand hearing him cry for more than a few moments. it makes me sad
I don't like Gerber either. I thought that their little pamphlets were a ridiculous waste of paper, I never used the baby food because I made all of my kids' baby food myself, and when I tried to use the Gerber brand sippy cups, they did nothing but leak everywhere, the plastic valves kept popping off and I ended up having to fish them out of my kids' milk every 5 seconds. My husband actually wrote a letter of complaint to Gerber. They responded with a bunch of $5.00 off coupons, new valves for the sippy cups (that didn't work anyway) and a letter of apology. But we don't use Gerber products anymore at all.
Bah does sound such total crap. Dumbass corporations are sickening. If your friend or spouse was upset and in need of comfort you wouldn't just ignore them because it didn't happen to suit you at that moment, without offering them any explanation. So WTF are we supposed to treat innocent beloved children like that? There is a world of diffrence between 'vocalising' and being truly upset and in need of attention. Any sane intelligent person can understand that. Jeez how on earth did humanity survive all those years without the wisdom of dumb little booklets?
