Wow! Nearly a year has passed.
Festivals are not as common this time of year (when you first posed the question).
There's always the indoor music gigs and play houses in Little 5 Points, Decatur, Buckhead, etc. year-round, (Theater in the Square in Marietta has some good plays underway)
Creative Loafing will have most of the listings.
Atlanta Botanical Garden has some beautiful seasonal displays, but that's not exactly a festival. Same for Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain.
Lot of people like going up to Helen winter and summer.
Much closer to home, the Chattahoochee Nature Center will give you and your kids a fun way to learn about nature.
Spring, summer and fall, there's way more to do outdoors.
Georgia Organics has some educational meetings in the next few weeks.
Georgia Appalachian Trail Club has hikes almost every weekend of the year.
The Georgia Aquarium is not impacted by cold damp weather. Their Dolphin show is still underway and very popular.
Atlanta Track Club is hosting a free running seminar on Dec. 13th.
Oakhurst Community Garden has a seminar for kids on keeping chickens. Dec. 3rd.
Atlanta History Center has some special holiday events planned for December 13th.

Lots more to do once spring comes, but I hope this gives you some ideas for the cooler, rainier months.

I love that place! It is awesome even when there is not a special event.

And for those of us between jobs or underemployed:
"In an effort to reach out to individuals and families in our community, we offer FREE admission on the 1st Thursday of each month from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm."

The rest of us should support them generously so they can continue to make the museum available to those who can't otherwise attend.
