    medeski, martin & wood

    I'm glad you discovered Jerry.

Now throw out all the Doors albums you own and get with the program.

It's all about the JGB, Grateful Dead, Legion of Mary, and Reconstruction.

exactly man, yonder and moe are right up there with mule and the others i named! i'm sorry, it may make me kind of an elitist, but i have real problem with totally "hippied out" kids that don't even know whats going on in the scene. they listen to dave matthews, jack johnson, and o.a.r. and think they're bonafied hippies. i mean thats fine, i don't really consider myself a hippy, but don't be a poser. get deeper into the scene! i'm talking to you if dave matthews, the doors, and o.a.r. are your idea of mind-blowing bands! check out some mmw dammit!

hey i think the doors are mindblowing...but just so u know, u forgot so many other great bands that this kid needs to hear...STS9, SCI, and so on and so on! But other then the doors, I totally agree, it bothers me that people consider OAR, Dispatch and DMB jambands...they dont suck but they are not jambands!

govt mule really isnt that good, or at least i think so. And why are u hating on the doors? Jim Morrison was amazing, he might of been an asshole, but he was incredible. Anyway, I know what you mean, it seems like everyone is trying be all hippy and into jambadns and shit like that now. Which would be cool, but most of these kids dont know shit about shit so it gets reall annoying.

WTF? i dont even know what a jamband is...i dont like the sound of it though, and if you all are referring to me as not knowing shit about shit, then ur wrong I mean that's the only thing I said I didnt know, no one in my family is obsessed with Garcia, so I never heard about it and people here are brain-dead about good music so obviously I never hear about his death from anyone I know. I had to freaking tell 2 of my friends that he died in '95, they love that kind of music and they didnt even know. I know a lot of stuff but its not my fault that I didnt know about that, and I dont have to like the Grateful Dead just because its "hippie and 60's" I mean I love the other stuff but I dont have to consider them on my list of favorites just to fit in, total bullshit.

    shine on ;)

btw jam bands are just bands that improvise and jam more, which makes every show different and more free form so to say. the grateful dead probably being the greatest in the genre. (if anyone dissagrees, your wrong :p lol)

perhaps its because they simply havent been exposed to it much, which is quite understandible these days, as good music hardly exists in mainstream amerika (which is what the kids are exposed to.) no need to hate. they just need someone to fill them in abit.

besides, there is more to being a hippie than music. and one dosent have to like jam bands to be a hippie.
