Game question, what am i doing wrong?

I just installed IronSTorm(2002?) on this windows Xp laptop. the game works, it loaded and everything, plays the intro video, then i hit campaign game, it plays the next video, and then when the next screen should be 'begin game now' or something, it closes itself, it cuts to my desktop and disappears from my bar . when i choose campaign, right before i get the choice it cuts to my desktop but goes right back to the game. what am i doing wrong?
