Any of you watch this tv series? I've recently finished the 4th season so i am now up to date with it. Season 5 starts in April I think. This show is probably in my top 3 shows of all time, if not number 1. Whenever people ask me what its about i dont really know how to explain it lol without it sounding stupid. Anyways if you aso watch this show we can discuss are favorite characters or what we think will happen etc..
I'll start it right now, keep hearing good things about it. Did you ever read any of the books too? I remember those being real popular, and now everybody's talking about the show
Nah ive never read the books. I migh tthough but dont wanna spoil the show, so i might after the series is done. If you do start watching the show, it takes a few episodes to get into it. Theres a lot of things goin on and a lot of characters/families to remember but once you start to get into it, its amazing.
I re-read the books after watching the show and found that they were much easier to follow when you have a face to put to the name. Mind you, the books have a lot more characters than the show, but it still helps. The show's storyline differs from the books in quite a few places as well, especially after the first season. A lot of things are changed or cut out in order to make it work better for tv.
I thought there is only one book that is about events after the last season of the tv show? I have decided years ago I won't reread this whole series until it is finished (otherwise I'd have to reread it after every new book to recall and remember everything). The show is good, but I enjoyed the books a lot more. I am mostly interetested in the happenings on Westeros myself. In the books there is bit more background on everything, including the areas the Kaleesi is in but frankly the happenings there with her were the least interesting for me when reading the books as well. In the show it only became more apparent for me I am kind of past that typical fantasy with exotic half nude princesses and superior armies, magic and dragons. I like the dragons and how they're implanted in this world's history though (and how they gave the Targaryens their power and how they were basicly extinct). I just don't like how she is gaining armies and power and conquering city state after city state as if it's nothing. Too fast and unbelievable imho. The chaos and civil war on Westeros and of course the lack of absolute good and evil (in the main characters at least) is what is making this a cool series for me. That and the setting (culture, different fractions, history etc.) of course. Very intriguing and fun! Also fun that the writer isn't favouring any side (although fair enough... Jon Snow so far seems one of the clear protagonists).
The actor that plays the mountain has been setting strongman competition records. 6'8 415 lbs with a 6 pack or some shit. Hed have to cut off his legs to make heavyweight in the ufc (265 lbs)
I think there's already a GOT thread somewhere. I tried watching a little of this. It became clear that in every episode, someone will do something shitty and cold, someone will get bitch slapped by a dwarf, someone will get beheaded, and there will be bewbs. I think that's the formula for its success. I don't really see anything that compelling about this. On the other hand, I don't really like most TV or movies.
Just recently finished getting throughThe Walking dead, was going to try get through breaking bad first. GOT would have to be pretty awesome to beat TWD, that is probably my fave show of all time
Everybody, and I do mean everybody.. has said to me "oh you need to watch Game of Thrones, it's right up your alley. So one day I gave it a go. 6 episodes of season one. Nothing happened. It was all talk. All. Talk. I never tried it again.
i've never seen it. i have seen several commercials for it though. the commercials basically show soft porn, then a midget, then soft porn, then a midget. and so on. i never see soft midget porn, and i refuse to watch it until that happens.
I never see soft porn. I hear about it. But I also see the midget and then a dragon. And the dragon would be cool enough to probably watch it. But I just can't get through the chit chat. Gasbagging and chinwagging.
yeah i hated it too based on the commercials....then i actually watched it same with seinfeld.....i never watched an episode while it was on....just thought it was a stupid show but then i watched the finale and became a fan even though the finale was pretty lame frogger episode was hillarious...also that one where kramer was bringing deposit bottles over state lines
The setting and characters are actually pretty cool and in depth. But it contains so much that a lot of details will simply be missed by the viewer who just watches the series. It goes a bit too fast to grasp everything that makes this story so good (imo). There's much more to it than showing some hot naked woman and some cool action in every episode. I probably would have lost interest in it. It can look quite cliché and like another stereotypical sword and magic series if you go just by the commercials or zap by it a few times. But I really dig that who's good and who's bad is not so black and white and also that most of the protagonists are not save. Anybody can be out of the series by the next episode The dwarf and his brother are great examples. They're not evil, even when they did some pretty unlikeable things. Of course in an 50 minute episode and with so much characters and happenings all they have time for to show are the important (dramatic) happenings and traits (to at least make clear what and why things are happening) so the characters and story may seem a little more one dimensional than in the books. You can imagine how extensive this story, world and it's background and all the characters are if it doesn't even fit properly in a 5 season series. It still feels speeded up.
Pretty much what asmo said. I actually started watching this series a few years ago but stopped after a few episodes because it was to much information to follow. Then I gave it another chance and all is well. It takes a while to know who is who but once you get the hang of things its a great story. My favorite character story so far is probably Arya.
