hey everybody iam planning on streching my ears myself ... and i was wondering if it is ok to do it myself and if there is anything i should know about stretching ......... tanks all!
Number 1 rule: Don't stretch too fast or else you will develop scar tissue, which is nearly impossible to stretch. Use a taper and, if you need it, water based lubricant.
i gauged my ears a few years ago heres some tips: Stretching your ears can be very expensive as earrings can run as much as 20 dollars per pair once you get into the single digit sizes. So it can be cheaper to skip a size if your ears can handle it. But only move up sizes after your ears are healed from the last one size. The cheapiest way to gauge your ears is to buy one pair of gauges at the size that you wish your ears to be stretched at the end, its a huge earring but you can gradually stretch them rather than buying a new pair every time you want to go up a size. They have gnarly ones that swirl around like a snail and gradually get bigger or just straight bars that gradually get bigger. When buying gauges DO buy ones with at least one pointy end when going up a size DO NOT buy plastic or wooden earrings when going up a size as the plastic are more difficult/painful to get through and wooden can cause infection but once your ears are healed they are awesome. Once you are the desirable size get some cool gauges. The hollow ones are awesome because you can stick stuff through them. The uv ones are also tight because they glow under blacklight. The cheapest way to buy gauges in bulk at your size is one ebay you can get pairs for a dollar each if you shop around. Remember to always clean your gauges!! once or twice a week if you are still exanding to prevent infection. Even if you are fixed on one size clean them every other week. If you neglect your gauges they will start to REEK!! like crazy and get all crusty. The rubber stoppers will start to get discoloured. Clean your ears and gauges with the cleaning solution you recieved when you got your ears pierced. Soap and water will also due, just make sure to rinse it all off. GOOD LUCK!
