this kind of made me laugh so i thought i'd share it. ----------- Where do you draw the line? If you cannot expect a person to do any works in order to be considered saved, then what can you expect from a person who is supposed to be a christian? welcome to salvation land enter here If you don't expect a person to do any "works" in order to be considered a "saved" person, then what kind of behaviour can you expect of one who is supposed to be a christian? soooo.... A young man goes down at the 'crusade' and gets "saved." Then a counselor advises him to find a Bible believeing church to attend. Before he gets too far, the new convert pops the question... convert: But do I have to go to church to be saved? counselor: Well, no, of course not. You are saved by the unmerited favor of God, not by works. convert: Oh good, I'm really not into sunday meetings. So for sure i don't want to go to church counselor: Well, it's good for you to go to church, but... er, of course you don't have to go. convert: ok, what else? counselor: Let's see. Try to read your Bible every day and.. convert: but i never really liked reading. Do i have to read the bible to be saved? counselor: well, no. You don't have to, but it would be good for you to know God's word. And of course you need to pray every day. convert: PRAY? that sounds too mystical to me. i don't feel any need to pray at this point i'm just not into it. counselor: well now, i can only advise you what would be best for your new life in Christ. but no one can force you. Remember, your salvation is a free gift -- not according to works, lest any man should boast. convert: oh well, atleast that part is good news. anyway, thanks for the free gift. im glad to be saved now but im gunna be late for the movie if i don't get going... counselor: movie? is it a christian movie? you know, there are many bad movies that christians should not go to. convert: what do you mean should not? are you putting me under a law now? i can just ignore the evil parts in the film if there are any. so now you're saying there aren't things you have to do to be saved, but... there are things i cannot do and still be saved? counselor: well, i didn't say you cannot go to movies, some christians do it. it would be good for you to pray about it... uh well, if you want to pray that is. convert: ok- that sounds better. But hey, i really gotta go! My buddy is meeting me at the bar for a drink before the movie. counselor: BAR? DRINK? wait! the bible warns us: do no be drunk with wine. convert: hey, no problem. i don't drink wine much anyway... i like hard liquor. OH! here comes my girlfriend! she's already saved. She's the one who brought me here to the crusade!! counselor: did you say she is already saved??? she's dressed rather, uh.. immodestly for a crusade, isn't she? convert: nah, i think it's fine. she always dresses that way at school. so why should she look different at church? why? do you have something against it? counselor: the bible says women should be modest. convert: so are you saying she is not saved just because she dresses like all the other girls? sounds a little divisive to me. she's not going to like you talking like that! convert: Hi honey!! i just got SAVED!! but this counselor here is questioning your salvation because of the way you're dressed! counselor: now i did not say that. girlfriend: hmph! i am a witness to all my friends at school. i brought several to your crusade. i don't want to alienate them by dressing different that they do. they say i'm cool so they listen when i tell them about being saved. that is our job, to be a witness, isn't it? besides, they would never listen to someone who looks straight like you... no offense. counselor: Well, dear, that is wonderful. we surely do need people to be a witness wherever they are... convert: Good! we got that that settled. so now let's get going to be a witness at the bar... and then at the movie. convert: thanks for the free gift of salvation!! girlfriend: god bless! smiling confidently, he watches the two walk off, thinking "ah, just saved and already going off to be a witness. this has been such a good crusade. *1* more soul saved!!! the scorekeeper approaches... scorekeeper: by the look on your face i guess we should add two more to our "saved-count" for the crusade. they look like a happy couple. counselor: no, just one. i got the young man. i pressed him for a decision just like i was tought in evangelism class. it was right out of the textbook. just like clockwork! so mark me down for him. but the girl? she's already saved. scorekeeper: counselor: now don't judge! i know what you're thinking. but that young woman is a great witness for god! scorekeeper: HUH? Well, yeah, i guess it's hard to know where to draw the line, isn't it?
This is a good example of why true Christians do not believe in once saved always saved. He that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved. (Matthew 10:22)
