This was a big thing when I was in Highschool about 20 years ago. Some of the bands that were doing it are still together and some that aren't have members that are in major acts right now. Here are a handfull to get started: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAe...F56E6020&playnext_from=PL&playnext=1&index=19 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Cx4Wq_pgt8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ho6pZqUNtko You might recognize drummer Mike Bordin from Ozzy Osbournes band. As a matter of fact Courtney Love was kicked out of their original line up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfTg4Fcza58 Probably one of the first Rap Metal tracks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1f7XwCsx4fs Hey kids that's Robert Trujillo from Metallica on bass and Psycho Miko Muir from Suicidal Tendancies on Vox. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJGFQ7O9h-M&feature=channel Just because I love the title. Peace Out, Rev J
Thanks for the links, I know all these bands (8 years older brother) but I got some songs to download now =D

when i hear funk i think of them. duck they are from reading, you should go see their show ... Their vocalist has a prosthetic leg and drinks beers out of it if you're lucky and give him one. he also plays the cowbell on it.
It's interesting. I hear more Reggae, and Ska than Funk. Still kinda cool I also hear bits of Celtic music too. From what I can get beyond the Cookie Monster vocals they at least have a sense of humor. Today's example's are proof that funk metal wasn't solely the domain of white people: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdQtYfURhTM"]YouTube- Funny Vibe - Living Colour [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMprpu0et9M [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYKxa_22BVk It takes serious balls for a black rock band to write a song about skinheads in the first person. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8MN3XcJf_k"]YouTube- Hard Left Video (Tackhead featuring Gary Clail) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFmZsHLC1Wk"]YouTube- tackhead - mind and movement control https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvXNuFhUWDo"]YouTube- TACKHEAD "Airborne Rangerl" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3I3CpB45Vc"]YouTube- TACK HEAD - What's My Mission Now? - 1985 Back in the day Tackhead were the house band at Sugar Hill Records (Grand Master Flash, the SUgar Hill Gang etc.) after being replaced by machines they hooked up with British producer Adrian Sherwood and mixed elemements of Funk, Metal, Dub, Reggae, and Industrial musics for Sherwoods On-U Sound label. HOly shit! you might have heard the other two songs on that album, hole hearted, and more than words. THose songs are the only two hits, but they are powerballads. They suck ass. the rest of the album is awesome.
Lets get a little more obscure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpbQomOGKU0&feature=related"]YouTube- 24-7 Spyz - Jungle Boogie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkMBo6HOH_4&feature=related"]YouTube- 24-7 Spyz - Ballots Not Bullets https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XavY5L7-9Ls"]YouTube- Orange 9mm - When You Lie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jh5zhAaRP3g"]YouTube- Orange 9mm - Alien And now a word from the Suburban White Boy Contingent: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWafQuMIo-M&feature=related"]YouTube- Mr johnson and the juice crew https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSZHE-ls6_w&feature=related"]YouTube- Scatterbrain Tastes Just Like Chicken And although not a funk metal track this still is a groundbreaking track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfQUuYY87fA"]YouTube- Anthrax- I'm The Man I'm pretty sure Anthrax were one of the first Metal bands to embrace rap even though this track is a little goofy. Peace Out, Rev J
That was definately funky so is the end of this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byEGjLU2egA"]YouTube- Ugly Kid Joe - Everything About You I allways thought that sounded like cheesy Motley Crue turning into The Red Hot Chili Peppers. It wouldn't surprise me if the original arrangement was completely like the end but it got changed in the studio at the record companies urging. Now just to cleanse the palate a little: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FOfSQFQCDc"]YouTube- SUICIDAL TENDENCIES - SEND ME YOUR MONEY It's too bad Metallica will never let Robert Trujillo cut loose like that. Peace Out, Rev J
you're probably right. after all, they needed at least 1 radio friendly original hit. When I heard they picked him up I almost cried. I wasn't even aware that he was a free agent at the time.
Yeah it's funny he left Ozzy's band to join Metalica. Then Jason Newstead joined Ozzys band briefly. I honestly don't think Newstead is performing anymore. I know he has some serious back and neck issues form heavy basses and headbanging all of those years. Peace Out, Rev J
