Christ are these people fucking evil. I'm trying to find someone to insure my car, and it's fucking impossible. It's like, these people are pulling money right out of our fucking pockets. Get this: The lowest quote I got today was 3,800, the highest was 8,400. I swear, when I heard the first quote, I thought my dad was fucking joking. I can't even belive they can get away with this highway fucking robbery.
Perhaps you should look into moving to New Hampshire - state law doesn't require car insurance there.
Florida by the way is a very expensive state to insure your car. When I moved here my rates jumped 50%. Judging by the accidents I see, I'm not so surprised. Senility and driving don't mix well.
^^Tell me about it. The roads here get worse and worse as you go south. If it's not some old bitty it's someone eating a fucking watermelon, some punk ass kid doing his homework before school, or some rich chick putting on make-up. Yes, I've seen all of that, btw.
I'm no fan of insurance companies, their adjustment policies and their power in our society, but it comes down to financial responsibility. If you are asking the insurance company to pay for your screw up driving, to pay for the person you might hit, and to pay to fix or replace your car when you smash it up, it's going to cost you based on the risk they statistically evaluate you are. The rates you are saying they are going to charge you seem like you are asking for full comprehensive coverage on an expensive car plus the minimum liability insurance required in your state. They do seen quite high. Do you already have a bad driving record and are you a poor student? I'm not saying they are being fair, but if you want them to be ready to pay for your fuck ups and you are a very inexperienced driver it's going to cost you, more the younger you are, and more if you are insuring an expensive car.
Thanks for the support --It's a 93 jeep cheroke. It has 270,000 miles on it. Belive me, it is in no way expensive. --I don't have a license, only a permit. I have never gotten a ticket, or been in an acident. My father was in one accident... He was hit from behind while he was stopped at a light. My father has no tickets and he's never been arrested. --It has nothing to do with me "screwing up", simply because I have'nt. Whether you realize it or not, anyone can sue you for anything. You just have to be involved somehow(ie. It does'nt have to be your fault) and they'll fucking sue you. --You need full coverage. When you don't have enough coverage, the opposing(sp) insurance company will go after you, because they know you won't have the insurance company's lawyer's on your side. They'll wring you dry. --My dad makes alot of money. He already has two cars and owns a very expensive house. This brings our insurance up. --Sorry I don't make a fucking 3.1 GPA, my apologies. Maybe instead of being an ass and jumping on me, you could give me some damn advice, you being the wise elder and all.
Man....Backtothelab..I'm in the same boat as you. I recently bought a 1993 Grand Am with 350,000kms on it. I shopped around and called anywhere from 15-20 insurance companies. A few said we wont insure you. A LOT said anywhere from 8000-12,000 a year for insurance. And dont forget, this is PLPD(Public Liability and Public something), no theft, no fire, no collision...NOTHING. Pretty much if I smash my car into a pole....I have to walk away with nothing, except a tow truck bill. My car is 11 years old..I paid 600 dollars Canadian for it...and they want me to pay $600-$1,000 a month to drive it? It's a POS! I cant believe how people are taking this shit and getting the screw job! So what I say is: FUCK YOU INSURANCE COMPANIES. YOU ARE NOT GETTING MY MONEY!!!!!!! My advice is shop around...call EVERYWHERE..and I mean it. Call like 50-60 places and see whats the cheapest. If you cant afford it, I think you'd be better off to walk and save a LOT of $$..Just my $.02
We are all being scammed by insurance companies. They do it for profit. I am 23, I drive responsible; I have never been in any accidents. I have been paying about $120 a month for the last 6 years. I really believe most of the money paid to insurance companies gets pocketed by the few people at the top, it's just one big vacuum sucking the money out of our pockets. They also discriminate against young drivers and males. Other people my age may party, get drunk, make stupid decisions and drive and get into a wreck or kill someone. Doesn't mean we all do it, doesn't mean we should all PAY more for the actions of other people. Fuck car insurance. It is legal theft, in the last 6 years I have paid $8640. There has never been a need for it. I want my fucking money back. My father has paid insurance for 30 years, he has never been in a accident. Where is his fucking refund check?
yeah. What really fries me when you go to make a claim, and they threaten to cancel your insurance. Wtf, is'nt that what insurance is for, anyways?
We're young guys (I'm assuming backtothelab is a guy, since he's active on the Computers and Internet forum and everybody knows women aren't allowed to use computers), so we're naturally going to have to pay higher rates. It's like racial profiling if you think about it, we're paying more just because some other irresponsible fucktards who were the same age as us fucked up. Insurance companies piss me off
The other thing that makes insurance so high is everyone wants to sue. I agree that it is a rip-off, but if every accident taken to court didn't cost $5000 or more in "personal suffering," plus the cost of the damage, we wouldn't have to pay so much. People think they are getting free money when they sue an insurance company. In reality, we ALL pay for it.
Man, I sympathize! I cannot believe what a racket insurance is. It's like betting agaist yourself. If you do get royally fucked up in an accident YOU WIN!! If you don't then you wasted sooooo much money. What state do you live in? Insurance was actually reasonable in Utah, unlike Colorado.....fuckin pirates. Same goes for Health Insurance! I mean, what a crock of shit. They want you to satisfy the deductible before they'll pay one cent. What if I only go to the doc once a year (which is way less than I actually do)? That means I pay $100/mo plus I pay full price to go to the doctor..........DOES ANYONE ELSE HEAR HOW ASSININE THIS IS!!!!!!! opposed to just pay the price to go to the doc I have to pay $1,200/yr; just incase. I swear my only motivation in life is to bring down the insurance companies.
Everyone call their insurance commissioner and raise hell. Write the governor of your state and raise hell. And tell the insurance person that gives you the price gouging quote that you are reporting them to the insurance commissioner and the federal trade commission. Let's make insurance companies squirm.
Man I fucking HEAR that! I live in Michigan, not sure if insurance is good or bad but pay 2000 a year on my 94 ford ranger. Already i've paid more in insurance than i did for the car, although I got some back when that tow-truck smashed my door out. It's such a rip off, and it sucks that you're required by law to have insurance. As I get older it goes down, and that's nice, but if I don't get in any more accidents, I'll never see any of that money again. Why can't I just keep my money in the bank account and use that for whatever accidents I get into? Plus I'd get interest, and get my money back if I don't get in an accident. And as far as medical insurance goes...well, my rage is beyond words, so I won't attempt it.
Can you repeat the question? Haha, I have no idea what you're asking. I mean, I'm pretty sure it's full coverage, but i don't know what 10/20 is. And yeah, it's not too bad, but it helps that I'm older. When I hit 21 a few months ago it dropped a decent amount...when I get to 25 it will really drop. You, as a 17 year old who only has a permit (thats what you said, right?), it's going to be high, no matter what. It was for me too, except I didn't get a car till I was 19.
backtothelab - "You need full coverage. When you don't have enough coverage, the opposing(sp) insurance company will go after you, because they know you won't have the insurance company's lawyer's on your side. They'll wring you dry. --My dad makes alot of money. He already has two cars and owns a very expensive house. This brings our insurance up." You don't need full coverage. You only need high liability. That will cover you if you are being sued. If your dad makes a LOT of money he should have an umbrella policy. Then you only need to make sure your liability covers him up to the point his umbrella policy kicks in. Owning a very expensive house will not affect your car insurance prices. Living in the same house as your dad who has 2 cars will not only raise your insurance, but usually his also. Hope this helps a little. cc
