Ok, this is directed at someone, they know who they are, but I am posting it on a bulletin because they would just fucking delete it if I put it on their profile.


Its Thursday night. Yes I know. Boring. Its supposed to be fucking boring. However, I am not a boring person by any definition of the words, and if I am bored then I get the mentality of a crack-addicted ADD monkey, and do inappropriate things until I finally find something to amuse myself. Not wanting to get to that stage, because that is usually where bad things like jail and STDs tend to show up, I call up one of my 'friends'. He happens to play WoW (World of Warcraft) religiously, to the point where he will forego food and sleep to 'raid'. If you have no idea what Im talking about, that is where a bunch of people online take their little characters with colorful glowy equipment, usually night elves and other things you would beat up people for talking about, and sit on their computer for FIVE FUCKING HOURS killing bosses or generally doing unproductive things. Thursday happens to be raid night. This is our conversation.


Me - "Sup man, lets go do something"

WoWNerd - "(fake groan) Uuuuugh I cant.
"

Me - " Why not? You just told me to call you earlier if I wanted to do something. I want to do something. Lets go.
"

WoWNerd - "(Another less than believeable groan) I cant I have a fever.
"

Me - "So take some fucking tylenol and lets go.
"

WoWNerd - "No. Im uhh, laying down.
"

Then it dawns on me. He is not fucking sick. He wasnt sick yesterday. He wasnt sick this morning. He's not going to be sick tomorrow. I called him at 6:30 and raiding starts at 7:00 sharp.


Yes, I just got blown off by someone Ive known for 14+ years for a videogame. Never mind going out, having a good time, and saying or doing ridiculous shit at inappropriate times, or maybe having the possibility of your annual sexual encounter, you'd rather stay home and jerk off to night elves with 39 other men on the internet.

Im bored as hell as well, so youre not alone. Without my opiates the boredom would be much worse. I dont understand how people can get totally consumed by a video game. I will play a video game occasionally and I get burnt out pretty quick. Im trying to get into the hockey playoffs, but Im having trouble caring. I know Ill get into the NBA playoffs when they start, well I hope.
