Even among those who don't like any form of Islam surely ISIS deserves to be singled out for additional criticism. It's a true cancer on humanity.

The average person who believes the ISIS scare as it is being sold to them by the controlled corporate media probably hasn't ever taken a minute out of their lives to question anything that's presented to them by an "official" source.

ISIS to me is funny. It's funny how people can believe such nonsense that is so clearly designed to instill fear so you get behind your own murderous government and support whatever barbaric actions they commit under the guise of being your protector and benevolent good shepherd. It's disgusting, and far more disgusting than any FAKE beheading video put out by intelligence agencies posing as "ISIS."

Why don't you stop being so brainwashed and actually look into the history of ISIS and where their funding and training comes from. Then look at how the government has lied to you countless times in the past as a pretext to go to war with some "rogue" nation.

This notion of Obama fumbling and being soft on ISIS is purely psychological, because they want to ratchet up the fear as much as possible, to get as many people behind what is going to be a long and drawn-out military operation that will end up killing scores of innocent people with your own tax dollars.

War is just humans inability to negotiate with each other. Patience and mildness should be the weapons.

The way I see it, our involvement is just slowing progress towards a resolution. What would happen if we just did nothing, and let things take their natural course? I would guess that they would take over that entire area, then we don't have to deal with it anymore, until they come here trying to impose their religion on us, then we fight them and they stand no chance.

The other option is squash the problem quickly in one go, using extreme force. Either way, i think some resolution is needed, otherwise it seems that this could go on for a potentially infinite amount of time. Somebody's gotta win, and somebodies gotta lose, that's the only way wars ever end. I don't really believe it's our problem though, it's their issue. They don't wanna be part of the rest of the modern world. Something's gotta give though, this can't go on forever. It's holding us back from advancing in other areas.

All people know about "ISIS" is what the media has told them. There's more to the picture. It's funny how people are afraid of ISIS "taking over," when their own government has already done that, taking our freedoms in the process while always keeping us in fear of some bogeyman that they're going to supposedly protect us from. Let's not forget these people murdered 3,000+ people on 9/11 (and I am not talking al-Qaeda). Let's also not forget those countless thousands that have died in their many wars of conquest over the last century alone.

This all amounts to nothing more than a script being played out which in many ways resembles a Hollywood production, and it saddens me how so many supposedly smart people can be so easily duped. It is really disheartening, and I can almost say that I have lost my faith in humanity completely.

The other thread was started just after the Charlie Hebdo attacks and maybe people's feeling were running high.

The trouble with using extreme force is that in doing so we become worse in terms of causing human suffering than the fanatics.

It seems like when the US goes to war, they never use "extreme force" -- otherwise we wouldn't wind up bogged down in these military actions such as we saw in Iraq and Afghanistan over the last ten years. The fact is they could wipe out most of ISIS very quickly if they wanted to. But why would they? Don't people realize it is convenient to always have a bogeyman to fight? They would rather send in ground troops to fight and die in some prolonged, drawn out military action that will make the Military-Industrial Complex lots of money as we set up shop over there. After all, this whole "War on Terror" (ie. Islamic extremism) has nothing to do with protecting the American people against any kind of terrorist threat. Those who are awake know what's really going on there and that most terrorism is state-sponsored and carried out by the same criminal enterprise that many of you are looking to for protection. It's all about conquering the Middle East and destroying the culture of the people who live there, and they need an excuse to do it. That excuse lies in scaring the shit out of you with endless threats of possible terrorist attacks. Don't you know, ISIS is going to come over here soon and start beheading people on the streets of New York City. It's not about martial law, you silly conspiracy theorists -- it's about Sharia law, and your loving government only wants what's best for you. But first you must give up a few more of your freedoms as we fly drones over your homes.... to keep you safe, of course.

They can. But I think they have been and are still asking for any help they can get. But it would be great if it came from surrounding countries instead of the almost inevitable aid of the USA (imho).

How long is this conflict going to go on anyway? There has been conflict over there for a long time, I don't see it going away soon.

All we need is peace, love and understanding, i think elvis Costello sang that song. But yeah, its the boogeyman that the U.S. has created to justify what they are doing in the middle east. A Hollywood production produced by the U.S. gov
