anyway nimh you'll be proud of me I ordered a fruit juice in a cafe today, it had 4 carrots, two apples and an orange in it. I said won't that do for my five fruits, he said it only counts as one as I'm only getting the juice no fibre (after its gone through the juicer) anyone know the facts? S
gotta be careful with fruit juices. the fiber that's naturally present in the actual fruit helps slow down the absorption of the sugars. without the fiber, you can get a sudden blood sugar spike. this isnt good because an insulin surge is going to follow to help the body put that sugar away into the cells. it's hard on the body. if you're going to juice, i'd stick with veggies that are low on the glycemic index. you're less likely to get that insulin surge. and if you're going to eat things that are high on the glycemic index, make sure that you're getting enough protein to balance things out. i'm curious about what you had to eat to go along with your juice? also~fiber helps prevent colon cancer! ps, i had a lovely salad at a vegan restaurant today! but i've got a steak on the bbq now to make up for it. i did load up the salad with lots of pumpkin seeds and some hummus, but it's just not the same
