    From the Homefront by Katrina Faldt-Larsen

    The lizard has tapeworm;

    What can be done about it?

    I shall write the check.

    Lizard sits thoughtfully

    On her hot rock and regards

    Muted news reports.

    Of all I did not

    Expect, nor ask for, pet coon

    Has fulfilled my dreams.

    If you should want a

    Guggenheim, I would be glad

    In promulgation.

    The Market is down;

    What is inevitable?

    Analysts' yammer.

    Your card will not work;

    To remedy misfortune

    Change your pin number.

    Very little can

    Be done about

    Inevitable.

    When was this poem first published? Katrina Faldt-Larsen published a short story in 1970 and, so far as I knew until now, nothing else. She died young, I don't know when.

    Did you know Katrina? She was a teacher on St Thomas where I grew up.
