fresh water in the bong every single time

Sometimes i forget to clean out the water right after i use it, but the next time i'll smoke i always put fresh cold water in it. Always makes the taste better. Same with bubblers. If i'm smokin out of someones bong i've never hit i always ask them to put fresh water in.

Four or five years ago i was at someones house i don't remember whos or why but i remember smoking out of a bubbler that as soon as i hit it i knew the water was bad. Grossed me out. Who knows how much mold, hair, dust, bug tracks, or whatever else where in that thing. So i ask for fresh water every time.

 

i smoke several times a day, so i don't change the water EVERY time. i change it daily probably.
a bubbler would need changing more often since it holds a lot less water.

i just cleaned my bong with iso and salt - looks 95% brand new (there's a few subtle stains in the perc.
i clean it with iso and salt pretty much every time i need a new bag.

clean bong water definitely makes a major difference in taste.

If i smoke two or three bowls in a row i wont change every single time their, but if its not for a few hours i will. Fresh cold water is awesome.

When I actually smoked, and had glass:

New water (and ice, if it's being used) several time per session for a heavy session. Water at least once daily. iso+salt between daily and weekly. Sometimes a few times per session, if it's special bud.

Dirty bongs or bong water just don't filter well, or taste nice. It's a horrible waste of nice bud, while a clean bong with fresh water and ice, on the first hit, with some good bud, is amazing tasting. If we where smoking something real special, I'd always give it a quick shake with iso/salt between everyone's snap, for a perfect hit.

I feel bad for the plumber that probably later had to deal with my dorm drain. Probly had pretty crystals, though.

 

A lot of people i know don't change it that often...well it doesn't seem like it anyways.

 

If I still smoked Cannabis, and IF I owned a bong, I would prefer to have new, cool, nice tap water (I live within the city limits so the tap water is very clean) every time I smoked. It would just be part of the ritual- the 'foreplay' so to speak.

seems like most people don't change their bong water or clean their bongs often enough...

but iso between hits?! that seems excessive. after i clean it with iso (and rinse well with water) i let it sit for at least an hour or two to fully evaporate. and then i rinse it well with water again before i use it.

does anyone else have a towel specifically for drying their bong off after you water it?
that's my problem when i'm at someone else's place, and i request to change their bong water. there's usually not paper towels or a towel i trust to be clean enough to dry the mouthpiece...

 

Well ISO is really rather easy to do, once you get the hang of it. Most bongs can be shaken up and down, and as you shake it it arcs, so that the iso hits the upper side instead of flying out the top, all you need to cover is the downstem joint. I wouldn't worry about the ISO fumes, rinse it well with water and if you're very concerned, blow it out before sucking on it. Should be fine.

And we used to smoke in the dorm bathroom, with the shower running scalding hot and the exhaust fan on. So the sink was right there for changing water and using ISO. If smoking in my room, it would be more like changes once to a few times a day, but I prefered the bathroom.

*edit* also, the water bill was on the school, and the water was scalding hot, so excessive rinsing was okay and even if I didn't feel like ISO, the taste could be mostly neutralized with a quick scalding rinse.

Fuck, I miss weed. And my bongs.

 

What's iso?

I change water daily at a minimum, usually fresh water for every time I load it up. Cold and with ice if possible.

Do you guys put a little thing of mesh in the cone/bowl to prevent the ashes etc to run down into the bong? I can't procure those mini-mesh things down here, and so my water gets dirty really fucking quickly, a couple times I got oil in my mouth, even if I'd just washed the bong.. disgusting.

 

isopropyl alcohol

use that and salt to clean your bong to a sparkling new clean. works 1000X better than hot water, and works equally as well as any cleaner you'd buy at a headshop.

you're talking about screens Jimmy? try to find a glass screen if you can - a tiny glass bead with points on it.


ISO fumes are very nasty i think.

But if you rinse well with hot water, there should be none, it's not THAT poisonous.

*edit* yeah, snapping your bowls is the only way to smoke.... just keep your water changed out, and it eliminates the need for an ashtray or any mess, or poking or burning fingers or any other such bullshit.

 

i never use screens with my bong, pulling the ash down into the water is too much fun.

What about bubblers and ash catches and shit? I heard that you're not supposed to cover the end of the downstem or water backs up into the bottom of the bowl? I've got a 3' PHX with 2 ashcatches and I switched to just using the 1st 1 (1 with the bowl) with a little bit of water, and the 2nd 1 full. It works better.

Water? I usually have to pack that shit up and hide it after I use it....so its fresh water every time. And if I'm using my PHX, ice in the ice catch too, all the way to the top of the bong. Its even better if you let it sit and melt while packing the bowl, since the ice water trickles down and cools the rest of the bong. Hardest hits of all time, of any piece I've ever hit.

 

I used to clean and water my bong every day. Ahh back in the good ol days.
Not now though, no way. I do this perhaps once a week. I should go back to fresh water daily, it makes the inhale seem better.
Though that was in the days where I'd only smoke every few days. Cleaning bongs gets old real quick.

 

I really don't see how hard it would be to dump out the dirty water, swish around some new water, dump that, and fill it back up. It would take 3 minutes. I might go back to smoking Cannabis soon, for medical purposes, and if I ever get a bong, I would certainly replace the water.

It is like KFC frying chicken with the same oil for a year. Haha.

 

I have to confess I'm one of the dirty / lazy ones.

I even have a utility sink right in my smoking area, so it is sooo easy. But, it definitely doesn't even happen every day...and when I have good weed I smoke a bunch of times through out the day.

I dump and re-fill every couple days and usually clean it well with iso when the binge is over...the cleaning of the bong and smoking area is kind of a ritual when I finally decide to take a break again.

(I do try to use filtered water occasionally instead of tap water, since my tap water has chlorine (etc.) in it, and when it's fresh it off-gasses a lot. That requires going up a whole flight of stairs!)
