Go to a shelter that adopts out altered/vaccinated/health checked animals.
It'll save you money in the long run.

I, personally, don't think you should be trying to get a free pet. There is not such thing. Even if someone gives it to you you'll be paying for it after. Vaccinations/vet checks/unforseen boo boos/food - and it sounds like you want a larger active dog so be prepared to buy lots of food.

I hope you have a big yard!

Somtimes in the paper I see ads for "adult dog needs loving home- free". Usually if someone is moving and cant take the dog......so check the paper. Of course those ads are not plentyful, but they exsist. Although, if you cannot find one, then I urge to go to a shelter. It is usually not that expensive and there all lots of older dogs who need a loving home that usually get passed over for puppies or smaller dogs. That is the route I would take personally. Good luck in finding your doggie!

one thing i would like to suggest is ... do to the mixed breeding that created the infamous rotwieller thay have really bad hips... not that they arent good dogs but 8 out 0f 10 times you will spend many a year caring for a crippled loved one and it is not cool...to see something you love suffer till its demise! food for thought!
