I dont like bluray @ all (Or even DVD) but I figured my friends here might like this http://www.ghacks.net/2015/02/22/leawos-blu-ray-media-player-is-free-now Its called Leawo.. Ya might wanna block its access.........
I had a windows 7 laptop here once with a blu-ray drive. I think it was a Toshiba. I thought it was funny to have a blu-ray drive and no ability to play blu-ray movies. Windows media player did not support blu-ray. The manufacturer did not include any blu-ray software or support .When I tried Cyberlink PowerDVD, my blu-ray movie was not even watchable. This was a quad core laptop with 6Gigs of ram, more powerful than the PC I'm using daily... it should have been able to play a stupid blu-ray movie!
it won't play the disc because you have to have the AACS keys for the title. are u sure the program isn't accessing the Internet in order to lookup the names of songs and stuff? the only reason to have a bluray player on ur PC is to be able to rip bluray movies.
True dat! In fact it's easier to leave the damn blu-ray movie in its package, on top of a $250 Playstation 3, on top of a $60 Sony Blu-ray player.... Then go download the brrip from kickass and play it on a $30 Android TV box where I can ACTUALLY have the bloody fucking OPTION to zoom and crop out the fucking letterbox black bars that I can't fucking stand to look at on my fucking wide screen fucking TV! Fucking SONY!
Fuck BluRay. Use Betamax! BTW, my understanding is that if you want to view movies in 4K you either need an online source or Bluray.
i wonder if older/current players would support 4k definition? i doubt it b/c in order to fit a 4k title requires the new and still in development HEVC/x265 format which wasn't part of the original standard. i guess there could be a way to update the firmware on the player or something, but i'd also bet money that the companies that sell bluray players would much rather just make you buy a new one "with 4k support".
I hear some HDMI hardware can support 1080p at 120hz for 3D video screens. I guess 4K TV's could use this connection to get at least 4Kp at 30fps. Personally I think the HDMI interface is shit and I hardly ever even use 1080P. Most of my devices I set to 720P and I can't be bothered to fill up my HD's with 1080p video's, 720p vids look great and a quarter the size. The difference is not worth the time power and space, IMO anyway, to see some extra grains and facial pores.
Some android tablets output up to 4K via hdmi. Of course you need a 4K TV or monitor to view it in that rez. If you've never seen 4K, you should mozy on down to TV town and check one out. There's nothing that can compare. Just when you thought that new 1080p or even 2160p inch was tops... Anyone know why windows tablets output so poorly via hdmi (if they offer it at all).
That's what most of them do, 30fps. Watch out for any that do less than that! I've seen some cheap ones that do. I've also seen some cheap ones that are supposed to be really good. But being cheap, they're not smart. No built-in wifi ability. Would you believe < $350 for 40" 4K? Check out Walmart. They also have a 50" for under $450.
I don't see the point of 4K on anything less than 60" TV. I've got a 42" and I can't tell the diff between 1080p and 720p unless I'm sitting less than 4 feet in front of it. But I've never had a look at a 4K TV yet, I don't think. I can imagine an 84" 4K would have the exact same pixel size / count per inch as my 42" 1080p TV. I had a 720p projector before and pixels are very noticeable on a 70" screen. With AMD nvidia cards you could use 4 1080p projectors in mosaic mode to build a 4K projection screen, if you want to go nuts.
DisplayPort is the connection to use for hi def and everything else http://www.displayport.org/ comparison between HDMI and DisplayPort; http://www.pcworld.com/article/2030669/hdmi-vs-displayport-which-display-interface-reigns-supreme.html
Yes, it does seem odd that major manufactures of tablets always seem to leave out something essential, like hdmi, or a microsd slot. Fortunately on the android side of the market, you can find tablets exactly like the ipad or nexus, with the items missing from those models. In fact, I'm looking to buy a dual boot tablet (win-android). And for just over $200 you can get that with everything (2GB RAM, 64GB memory, GPS, HDMI, USB, 2mp+5mp cameras, G3 or G4 phone, retina screen, etc.) Unfortunately for us, you cannot buy these dual boot machines in the US because microsoft and google have prohibited manufacturers from offering dual booting machines. If you end up buying from China, it's best these days to pay extra to get it faster. You don't want your order sitting on a ship outside LA for months waiting to be unloaded.
I've seen 4K on a 50" screen, and believe me, you will notice a HUGE difference in quality of image. And you must get at least a 30fps refresh rate, otherwise moving images will look weird.
it really does make 1080p look the way "high-def" made standard definition look. I like the OLED TVs too, they show a much better black. The black on LCDs is more like a dark grey instead of a true black.
Here's a good review of a 4K android TV box. Turns out 4K at 30hz is exactly what they do. Or one option anyway. He claims this box plays blu-ray rips perfectly and he compares pixels on a 4K video VS 1080p. If you're fine with 1080p, as I am for now. You can find less powerful android boxes for as little as $20. http://youtu.be/dy80sMlB5lI
