so yesterday while I was shaving "down there" I found a small lump/bump. It's on the outside of my vagina (as in, where the hair is). It's not very big, bigger than say, a pea, but smaller than a dime. It looks slightly red-ish, and is raised a bit. Anybody have any idea what could it be? It's kind of freaking me out. I thought maybe it was an ingrown hair or something, but that just doesn't seem right.
It sounds to me like it could quite possibly be an ingrown hair. I've had those before like that. Is it painful?
If it is in the area next to the labia on the sides you can get blocked oil ducts there. It is either that or an ingrown hair like hippychickmommy says. I would put a bunch of warm compresses on it to see if it comes to a head.
yeah not much to worry about. Have you had sex with someone you know has anything? (I am not judging you, this is just a rhetorical question). Is there any reason to think it may be a symptom of an std? It probably is just an ingrown hair. Especially if you are shaving.
Also could be a bartholin gland cyst. Mine used to get infected all the time, once I stopped taking birth control pills they stopped. I had to have them drained at least 4 times. It sucked so bad. I assume it must have been hormonal, since i didn't get them once I stopped BC.
I don't really think it's anything like an STD...my boyfriend and I have both been tested and use condoms. I guess the only reason it weirds me out is because it's not painful, like ingrown hairs can be. I'm gonna try the warm compresses, maybe that'll help.

Advaya--infected bartholin gland cyst? what would that be like?
I have a hard cyst like thing on my outside but not total outside (im sorry i dont know the right names ): ) i am afraid to get it checked out. i know i am std free
I get things like that sometimes, and don't shave there. I don't have any STDs, and haven't really payed it any mind. They go away in a few days to a week. Perhaps they are just caused by some random irritation? Anyway, I wouldn't fret too much, and if it keeps worrying you, ask a doctor about it just in case. ~Nova
I have had plugged oul ducts down there, about the size of a pea, but not painful. I just popped it, a bunch of white stuff came out, and it was ok.
Bartholin cysts aren't always painful and sometimes drain on their own. The first time I had one it got infected and HUGE. I couldn't sit down or walk or do anything but be in agony with a water bottle between my legs. Finally I had to had it lanced and drained at a doctors office. IMMEDIATE relief. God, it was exhilarating to have that thing drained. None have ever been that bad, but I still get horrified whenever I'd start to get them again, afraid they'd become another monster .. but generally they're really small, about the size of a pea.
yeah, i'm hoping that whatever this is it goes away...because I'm not going to be covered by my student insurance after two more weeks, so I don't know what the hell I would do if it was something serious.
Please see a doctor! It could be a oil gland, it could also be gential warts. (Also called Human Papallima Virus.) NO, they don't hurt at all, and NO, condoms do not protect you from them. You can't always see them on the dude, either. They can be treated, but not cured, and they, without treatment, can raise your risk of cervical cancer. If you only have two weeks left of insurance, see the doctor today!!!! I work in health care, and almost all Bartolin's Glands infections hurt like hell. When I hear or see a bump on the gentials of a client, which is painless, HPV (gential warts) is the first thing I think.
Yeah maybe I say there aren't always painful because compared to that first one, they aren't always so bad !!
Yeah, that's what I thought. Gential warts are supposed to be almost completely painless. Even a milk Bartholin's Gland infection is irritating, if not excruciating. But, if you have a strong pain tolerance, or it isn't a bad infection, it could just be mildly irritating.
you may just have an ingrown hair that has become cystic... if its hard and isnt painful to the touch.... its a matter of dealing with the pain of pushing the hard ball of impurity that has collected..... take a sits bath and try to put pressure on it to see if it will budge... it can be very painful so just wait untill its ready on its own if its too hard to push out
