I thought of this after seeing the scene in the Matrix where they load "programs" into Neo that automatically teach him skills and such. What if the same were to happen to a person, maybe everyone on the planet, every living thing... and they were "shown", or forcibly enlightened? Would the person be an instant Buddha (enlightened one)? Or, would the person not be ready, and break down into an empty shell of a man? or would they simply explode? or cease to exist?

You can give someone information, but you can't give them imagination. So download human history into your head -- but history is written by the victors. Download science into your head -- but things aren't as they seem. It's as likely to make you really dumb as it is to make you really smart.
the phrase certainly sounds like a self contradiction. knowledge, beliefs and scripts for how to things at or near the hardware level, might well be stuffed, programed, into a living sentient's head, but enlightenment is another kind of a concept entirely. it is neither knowledge nor even belief, or at least doesn't begin and end with belief, though it certainly extends beyond begining and ending with knowledge, its more like understanding and ability, in a sense that spans both spiritual AND material, and i really don't think anyone can be GIVEN or as you say forced feed THAT. if they are force fed a belief or perspective, what the've been given ISN'T enlightenment in any honest sense of the word. if anything, enlightenment is what would both make them fight against it and to whatever extent they might, be able to do so. enlightenment might protect them from being destroyed, though not entirely form being temporarily 'broken'. nothing, as far as i know, can prevent that. but a person who has become to some degree enlightened, and since we're all fallable, to a degree is all we ever can be, can and will, given a real opportunity and enough time with that opportunity, recover from having been broken. it will help them heal, though healing make take a long time, and of course there might always be 'scar tissue'. =^^= .../\...
hmmm... funny i thought that was exactly why "they" gave us K-12, Television "PROGRAMS", Radio and News PROGRAMS, and so on and so forth. The result is no explosions or implosions or breakdowns... it's thousands of years of pure ignorance and "follow the leader " mentality into an illusion of "ORDO AB CHAO". Order out of Chaos. But me thinks you may have been talking about the other way around if so i think we may soon find out cause i believe the world is about to experience exactly what your saying.
