my boyfriend and i had an actual argument about this. he is circumcised and i mentioned that i think it's silly that people continue to circumcised their children (it has very tiny health benefits, if any at all) and why put your infant through unnecessary surgery? i wouldn't care the slightest if i were to be with an uncircumcised guy - it's natural!!! so anyway, he took the stance that our child would be teased and gossiped about, because that's what happened to guys he knew in middle/high school who where "rumored" to be unclipped. he was adamant about this! so even though we are like...many years away from having kids (were both 20), it's already an issue!

other girls i've talked to don't mind at all, either.

I'd like to say that I'm sorry for bringing this into this topic, but I feel that it's too important not to. (Women are here, topic is relevant, and women need to know because they're the mothers of our children.) I also don't want to start my own thread on this and have to deal with a bunch of insecure and angry guys with bad arguments.

It's really just out of ignorance or insecurity that people still defend this practice. Like you said, the benefits are... imaginary. What most people don't know is that circumcision was introduced to the US in an attempt to curb masturbation (if that seems strange to you, PM me, but prepare yourself for the explanation, which you're unlikely to appreciate) - it's a US phenomenon. Something like 82% of the world's living men are intact, and few parents worldwide are faced with making this decision.

Because such a vast percentage of men are willing to defend this practice (out of insecurity, of course), we seem to be at a point now where women are really our only hope in bringing it to an end.

I'm not going to get into why this matters so much because it'd take so very long, and although I'm perfectly content these days as a cut guy, the realities of circumcision are extremely depressing. If you want to know a little more about it, just PM me.

I totally agree. It's fucked up. Although I would say most of the women I've been with have appreciated that I'm cut. I often wonder what it would be like to have it back. The jews that started the practice only took a fraction of the foreskin that's removed today. I didn't cry when I was born until they cut me. Just coughed and looked around. Did you know they don't even really use anesthetic because the babies don't remember it I believe is the argument.

It's cruel mutilation. You wouldn't do it to a girl, why do it to a boy? It's really quite horrific. There are some websites about it where nurses told what it was like. The baby goes into shock and often gets so traumatized it affects his ability to nurse. One of them said most of the doctors she knew didn't even know how to anesthetize the area properly, and didn't even wait for it to kick in before starting. Sometimes they just plain did it wrong and the anesthesia didn't even work. Think how much it must hurt to have to wear a diaper right after and have urine and feces festering in the open wound. One doctor said he never got used to watching the baby scream and vomit and sometimes stop breathing from the pain. Just 'cause they don't remember doesn't mean it doesn't hurt. Would you beat up a baby and justify it by the fact that he wouldn't remember? It's still cruelty.
As for how it looks, it looks fine to me. If nature didn't intend a man to have it, he wouldn't have it. All male animals have it, and they don't have any health problems because of it.
Should it be justified by culture? I don't think so. If you can justify male circumcision because American men are expected to be circumcised, then does that also justify the massive majority of African women subjected to FGM because it's their culture?
Google FGM (female genital mutiliation), it'll turn your stomach what they do to 7-11 year old girls. Some of them have absolutely no external genitalia, nothing but a sewn up pussy hole. NO anesthesia either.

"Loose cuts" like I have get the benefits of both - most of my foreskin is still there, but it sits behind the glans when soft, and becomes part of the shaft skin when erect. I can roll it over the head when I masturbate, just like an "uncut" guy. But I don't have that 50% greater risk of getting an STD that uncut guys have.

I love foreskins! The "50% STD reduction" crap has been so overexaggerated. It's such a load of crap. Besides which - that's what condoms are for! So it's either have all your penis and wear a condom, or have only part of your penis and wear a condom. Which would you choose?

    My son is NOT cut.

Cutted, are you still at it? Zeesh!! I go back to Europe for a few weeks and you've started the rabbinics again. You even call yourself a therapist, but I notice you give no information of credentialing. Matter of fact, you've never shown ethical understanding of the theraputic trade. "Try one of us," you suggested to a woman - neglecting her worth - just sending her out to find a circumcised man to screw. That was up there with your usual made up information: ie, 50% less chance of STD. What unmittagated crap! At least you are off you suggestion that circumcision wards off AIDS. What? Just flap a 4skin and away goes HIV? You're apparently religiously biased in favor of circumcision, which taints all of your advice (some of which has been very good.) Why don't you quit defending a prehistoric mutalation ritual which has given certain religions a 'sign.' and American Surgeons an extra buck or hundreds since 1870s for doing nothing but supposedly making masturbation more difficult and thus saving American boys the 'fever' of masturbation. Hands up all you cut guys who have noticed how more difficult jerkin is without a 4skin. Oh that's right, you must need lube. Give it up, Cutted! Give it up! :toetap:

Circumcision is infant mutilation. The very important, functional foreskin should never be removed, unless in very special circumstances, like severe phimosis.

Men should be allowed to enjoy sex to the fullest.

I have nothing against Islamic, Judaic or Victorian rituals, but I would not have them done to my boys or girls. Never. I am against all ritual forms of child mutilation, especially when they are focused on the genitalia.

Also, a crusty circumcised cock is not very nice to look at. It's esthetically pretty disgusting.

In any case, let me repeat that I have nothing against Jews, Muslims and Americans, - only against the ritual genital mutilation they practise.

Fastswitch - My being in favor of circumcision has nothing to do with my religious beliefs - I am not Jewish or Muslim. It is because the studies you call "made up information" were carefully controlled, authoritative studies in two African countries involving over 10,000 men, and a 25 year study done in New Zealand. The U.S. National Institutes of Health have endorsed the findings of the studies. And it does help lessen the chance of getting HIV if a condom is not used. I think the circumcised penis looks better, feels better for the woman and the man during intercourse ( although I am sure you would disagree), and is easier to keep clean.

Your histrionics do not serve your arguments well...

No, but you are a white Anglosaxon protestant American. That explains why your parents had you circumcised. Your culture is just as totalitarian and bizarre as that of Jews and Muslims - the other two circumcising cultures.

Your argument about circumcision as a trick against STDs is of course totally bogus.

It's not because driving a car can kill you that you have to take all cars off the road. In order not to get killed driving a car, we invented driving rules and seat belts. Condoms and sexual maturity do the same trick for sex.

Ruining the penis as a way to prevent STDs is dumb. The best way to prevent AIDS in Africa is promoting condoms. Not ruining men's genitals and making them crusty, disfunctional and ugly.

Anyways, I'm happy to have an intact penis that functions as nature intended it to function, and I'm happy to live in an atheist culture of reason and progress, a culture that looks at sex in a mature way. Thank God we left Victorianism and its war against sexuality - which resulted in circumcision amongst white Anglosaxon Americans - where it should be: in the 19th century.

John - a circumcised penis is not "crusty, disfunctional and ugly". Nor is my culture "totalitarian and bizarre". Many people who support the uncut look result to insults and emotional tirades to try to make their point -and they fail.

It was introduced to America as a culture by Dr Kellogg (he of cornflakes fame) as a method of stopping the patients in his sanitariums from masturbating - nothing to do with the prevention of STDs. He wsa also responsible for the design of many other barbaric anti-masturbatory devices, such as ones with spikes that would painfully pierce the penis at the first sign of an erection.

Basically, in reality he was a sexual sadist, but because of his supposed medical status the general public continued to follow his example like a load of sheep - something that doesn't seem to have changed that much in America.

www.jewsagainstcircumcision.org. Even the Jewish community is starting to figure out that it's not ok to take a blade to an infant's genitals. Now if the U.S. could realize that, we'd be set.
