How many picks do you have? I have 11.What's your preferred thickness? I have a large almost triangular Stagg .81 with curved edges for heavier riffing, and a USA NYLON.60 for softer grooves.
Yeah playing with fingers on an electric can sound very sweet.Jeff Beck gave up on picks a long time ago.I just like the precision of a pick for certain styles.
Picks sound a lot cleaner and can be a lot faster than what i do. im just used to using just my thumb
Ha! Since you asked.....I have exactly one pick. There may be some others stashed away somewhere but I have no idea where. I've had the same pick for a decent number of years (not sure how many) and couldn't even guess how many shows and hours of practice I've played with it. .60mm. I also have no idea why I only have one pick but I like that pick. You'd think it would eventually wear down but it hasn't.
My son just bought some wooden picks. They look kind of cool but he hasn't mentioned whether he likes them or not. I don't think I would like them much. I like the way the .60mm bends a little in my fingers as I strike the strings.
I knew a dude who used to do that, and they wrre pretty cool. At least, they looked cool. ive never seen a wooden pick. Got a pic? No pun intended..
http://obsidiansdream.bandcamp.com/album/plant-life Our last disc. Fun fact: Track 1-Better Days--was recorded with the whole band at the same time in a single take. If you don't know...usually you are miked up and tracked individually and layered in. So setting up the whole band and miking it all live is a kind of fun different approach. The only thing recorded later was the female vocal who isn't a member of the band. Most of these songs are different from one another so if you hate one...the next one might be the one you like. I also have a video of me doing a Snoop Dogg rap song if you want to see it. Cracks me up every time I watch it.
Do yourself a favor and smoke a big, fat bowl..and then listen to it! And my favorites are probably #8 and #14. Mellow.
Well done! Plant life is good. I like no.8 too. Thanks for sharing..thats killer, and on bandcamp too.
