I figured we need a football discussion- there must be some footie fans. So I will start it off with Liverpool's 2-1 win over Man U :cheers2: I know people have said we only won cause Man U scored an own goal, but we definitely deserved to win- we were on top the whole match. And as for Vidic first tackle, he should have sent straight off- we could easily have scored he hadn't tripped him up. Also, later on that day, I went into town and we were drinking/smoking on some bridge leading from Anfield to the Train Station- and all the Man U fans came down with a huge police escort. We had an LFC Flag which we hung off the bridge as they went under. Good times. Quite a few Everton and Liverpool (The only time Liverpool and Everton unite is when it comes to Man U) fans were following and chanting, lots of Man U and LFC fans hurling abuse, cars beeping there horns etc- the Beautiful Game in deed.
Thought it might be, too late to change the title to 'Football (Not American)' I refuse to call it soccer.
Doesn't matter, football or soccer, it's all about baseball son! But anyways, what is the fucking deal with soccer riots over there lol
lol. It is a shame really, but it is only a small minority. The only reason they were being escorted is because there is a big inter-city rivalry between Liverpool and Manchester. Most of it is quite friendly, but it can end up in violence. Most of the fighting goes on between firms (Most teams have a firm). Firms are basically just groups who meet up outside matches and fight Hooliganism isn't so bad here in the UK, go to Eastern Europe, thats where most of the riots and fights go on. As for Baseball- I found an interesting article about how it was actually invented in the UK, I will try and find it now.
Found it. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/surrey/7610016.stm Found this bit pretty funny: Nothing like a stereotypical bit of Britishness.
let me start by saying fuck non american football. and let me end by saying go panthers. fucking just took that game back. XD
I still like soccer's urban legend creation story better how modern soccer came from a bunch of piss drunk British soldiers in camp who dug up the heads of their fallen soldiers from the cemetery and start kicking them around and making a game out of them now being that drunk, now that's British
Take your NFL discussions elsewhere- this is a thread for real football. As for how football started out, there are quite a lot of legends. Others say it wasn't even the British who invented it, but the Chinese by kicking heads of the executed through posts. But all the stories involve heads. And as for NFL, we all know Rugby is better. Real men don't wear pads :cheers2:
GO BILLS!!! 2-0 for the first time since 2003! woot woot! and soccer is faggy compared to real football. (even though the name FOOTball makes way more sense for soccer)
Panthers Broncos Bitches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 40z that pic is fucking crazy if i saw that tripping i think i would be scar'd for a min lol
And American Football is more faggy then Rugby. :cheers2: So do you lot just support American Football teams that do well, or do you have allegiances?
how is american football remotely faggy!?!?!?! Rugby is rugby very physical and fun sport love to play.
they're basically the same dude. just football has protective gear because getting hit by a 300+ lbs. black dude with a helmet would probably kill you without shoulder pads. most of us support our states team/s.
And I am a loyal Panther n Broncos fan rain or shine grew up idolizing John Elway and then we got our own football team aka the panthers so i became a panthers fan as well.
hahaha. and if i saw you're sig while i was trippin, i would be like damn where the fuck is my girl at.
Never said it was faggy, just more faggy I personally like both sports, but I reckon Rugby is a lot better and tougher.
hehe, I think it was from medieval times, all the villages would play against each other in something vaguely resembling modern football but with a lot more brutality and no referee.. I think the ball was a pig's bladder... Don't really care much for football or sport in general since I was about 12 but can be fun sometimes... *waves little Brighton & Hove Albion flag* though I haven't been to a match since the Goldstone was sold in 1997, there was a good riot on that day kicking a ball about with friends is good fun and I can sometimes get into watching international matches but otherwise it's a bit boring imo...
