A friend once told me everyone has a "thing" with food. How do you look at it? As sustenance, pleasure, comfort, something sacred, pain or any other view?
I look on it as one of the most wonderful things in the world. I love food and I love preparing food. So for me it is sustenance and pleasure. I don't really eat for comfort though, when I am unhappy I actually don't feel hungry at all.
I have changed my view on food in a pretty big way over the past year. I mostly eat for sustenance. Don't get me wrong, I love food, but I don't let myself get carried away with it like I once did. These days I play close attention to what I eat and how much I eat. So first and foremost, food is about sustenance and nourishment for me. On the rare occasion I do "pig out," it's on fruits and nuts. I don't touch junk food... ever.
I fucking love eating food. Just orderd my chicken katzu at L&L Hawaiian BBQ on my lunch break :drool5:
Growing up in a large family, I learned to eat what was set in front of me. Also having gone with very low calorie intake for extended periods I have learned the value of food. Now I enjoy eating, but do it modestly. My weight is about the same as it was 30 years ago.
A tootsie pop= Make a mug of hot chocolate, but make it so the water is just hot enough to disolve the powdered hot chocolate, then add kool-aid. Cherry is best. Let it cool & add cold water. It tastes just like a tootsie pop.
Sustenance here as well more than ever but yeah, I enjoy tasty food as well of course and occasionally eat some stuff just because I like it. When I do I compensate on other food. I rarely pig out in the sense of eating more than I need, something I did more often in the past.
Sacred definitely. Food is one of the biggest pleasures life can offer - why deny yourself? I love cooking and preparing food as well as eating it. I want to eat what I enjoy, not eat something just because I think I should. I am really lucky I get to eat a lot of Korean food because of my partner - healthy AND delicious! I eat junk occasionally, but I try to eat really good quality, well prepared food. I would stress that this doesn't always mean it's HEALTHY as such, but it's high quality. Yummm I'm hungry now!
