why not just cover your hair when around bugs?

i personally would never put flea spray on my hair or in my body.

i dont let that stuff near my pets! systemic poison is not the way to go hun!
have you tried hedrin? its a nit stuff that isnt poison, it works by suffocating the lice and killing them ;)
there is also vinegar though i'm not sure how you go about doing it.
worst comes to the worst, if you must use chemicals at least use one designed for headlice xx

    :( no good.

    Just google "bugs" "lice" "dreadlocks"

or go to dreadheadhq...or is it knottyboy? one of those sites has good cures for buggies.

Don't use the commercial stuff...you have to comb that out, remember? or the nasties will stick in your dreads and...ew.

    :( my head itches.

    **edit**

K, this stuff is straight from the knottyboy website.

:) just put that in because...well it's a thing that should be prevented at all costs, as you probably know.

    k, here are some suggestions.

Okay, some tf these ideas are stupid. Like vaseline or wax, for instance...I'd try the vinegar one first were I you.

Eeepp! Just thinking about that makes my head itch. Sorry this happened to you, man. I've had lice a few times in my life. My hair has always been past my shoulders, and it was a pain then. I don't even want to THINK about'em being in my dreads.

Hope you get that taken care of. Good luck.

    delacet delacet delacet!!!!!!!
after replying to you earlier i discovered a friends kid has lice..... so what i though was itchies wasnt :( i went and asked my chemist and he gave me delacet. its all herbal and recommended for dreadies. kills lice and eggs so only one treatment is needed.
i soaked my dreads and scalp in it (it smells weird) tied it up wrapped it up and went for a sleep as you have to leave it on for 2 to 3 hours....
i didnt wake up till this morning so it was on overnight ooopppss!
just washed my hair and scrubbed real hard, found 2 dead as a doornail nasty lice. and best of all no itchies!!
i'm gonna use it once a week for a month to be safe but it works!! wooo hooo!!
mental note to self, make sure dreadies are well covered before next visit to mates house!
it was about £8.50 for the bottle and i have a little left over, it says you can dab a bit round your hair/scalp as a preventative too!

i think ive itched my head so much while reading this thread..that ive drawn blood.

How does someone get nits? Can they just magically appear or do you have to be around someone with them?

    Ive never had lice..eek!!!
