I got a membership at a 24/7 gym because it is walking distance from my apartment. That and my apartmet's gym lacks free weights and everything in between. Still, I find excuses not to go every day.
10 minutes on my prison inspired flesh light made out of a rubber glove and towel, and olive oil for lube.
Personal trainer here! I'll be competing in August. Pictures in my profile! Gonna be a big transformation from now till then!
You have as good of a physique as anyone could want. Good size and leanness. Good work, man! What's your diet and training routine like? How long have you been at it?
Thank you! My journey started back in 2007. I got really serious around 2010. The biggest issue i had was not having the money when i was younger. I was so focused on saving up for supplements like a pre work out that i forgot the most important thing. Nutrition. Until my nutrition was in gear i wasn't growing. I mean i can sit here and type you a basic diet anyone could tell you. Changes happen when you start to control your calories without even thinking. What i mean by this? Basically its been drilled in my head that every meal has to have over 25g of protein above 500 calories with above 50g of carbs. Seeing as I'm competing soon my diet is way different and much more picky but if your looking to grow add some nice muscle then really i would just focus on eating every 2 hours. I was an ectomorph so i forced myself to eat every hour and a half. When i'm bulking i usally just focus on five meals with the same calculation as above. As for my work outs. I'm a big fan of ben paks m140x. It teaches you a lot about lifting in different tempos and movements and i mean alot. I would highly recommend reading about Concentric and eccentric motions if your to add muscle. Hypertrophy.
Nice! I wasn't really looking for tips or advice, just wondering what your routine is like. I like to do hypertrophy work from time to time, but I find going heavy is the best way to make progress in terms of strength gains. I'll usually throw in one lower and upper body high volume hypertrophy session per week, but I tend to focus more on strength and the big compound lifts. I don't do much accessory work aside from the occasional curls, flys and shrugs.
My personal trainer has changed my life. I have been seeing him on and off for two years now, and I can say with complete confidence that there is no way I would be as fit as I am today, if I had not had his help.
To be honest, you reaaalllly don't need one. A lot of them don't even know what theyre doing, anyway. Sure some are good but yea. You can find any info you need online, and ask people in the gym for tips. What is it that you even want to do?
probably for a lot of people the personal trainer is more about motivation than anything. if you've paid for a trainer and set up an appointment schedule with them, you're a lot more obligated to stick to your plan than if you just go to the gym when you feel like it.
I would agree that personal trainers are a joke. 90% of them don't know shit. It's so much better to learn on your own. The problem is so many people lack discernment when it comes to knowing who and what to trust. If you want to know about diet and training, look into the work of people like Lyle McDonald and Alan Aragon. These guys are pretty much at the top of their game, and are 100% no bullshit. I have learned way more from studying these guys' work than I ever would from a PT. If you're a woman, check out Nia Shanks or Leigh Peele. If you want to learn proper form, look into people like Jason Blaha and Johnny Candito on YouTube. Their videos are very informative and great learning tools. Also, never take advice from bodybuilders or aesthetics fags (most of which are on gear). Powerlifters are often far more knowledgeable.
