Smells and tastes like shit. Theyve got the burpless ones which eliminate that nastyness but they still smell like moldy sewage
Cheap fish oil from the supermarket will often smell and taste bad (usually because it's rancid). Spend the extra money and buy a quality brand like Carlson. I am a fan of their liquid lemon flavored fish oil, which has no fishy taste. Krill oil is even better than fish oil.
Most fish (even the "good" stuff) has too much mercury. I take high quality fish oil mixed with D3 and I have never had a fishy burp. In any case, you can't eat enough fish to get the omega 3's needed to.... not die early. I am convinced it's sugar and lack of omega's causing heart disease and cancer. Get krill oil if your worried bout the burps n quite yer bitchin. (jk) (I also put in my daily smoothies flax and chia seeds (mine is cocoa and coconut flavor...mmm)... combined w the coconut oil I put in there. it's yum but yea, get your omegas n fish.. though, if responsibly fished, is okay now n then.. is NOT a good daily/weekly source of omegas.
Oh I drink Flax milk too.. did I say that? yeah, omegas are important and they are really in sooo much if you look.
Most fish does not have too much mercury. If you eat a can of tuna every day, you might run into issues, but you can eat salmon every day without really needing to worry.
You run a much bigger risk with mercury and such when eating farmed -- as opposed to wild caught -- fish. Still, it's probably best to avoid eating most fish more than a couple times a week. One fish that is relatively low in heavy metals are sardines, which are another good omega-3 source. Here is a good list to go by...
That's because in summer, the supplement capsules partially melt inside the hot trucks while they are on the way to the stores. You can avoid that by stocking up over the winter with enough to last you through the fall. If the surface of a capsule has a cloudy appearance, it's been too hot. You should be able to see straight through. Those have no taste or smell at all.
Not true. Krill oil is the optimal source of omega-3's, because it combines omega-3's with antioxidants which fish oil doesn't have. Krill oil is far superior as an omega-3 source. I am not just saying that -- it's pretty widely known.
I don't think that's it. Fish oil usually has a smell, but the poorer quality fish oils usually have a stronger, oft-putting odor. The capsules that are cloudy are enteric-coated (usually cheap fish oil), making them cloudy. These are sold as "odorless" fish oil.
just comparing gram to gram, say 3gram krill vs 3gram fish oil, krill oil would probably be a better pick...but as far as i remember, the cost to meet that comparison would be pretty expensive. haven't looked at the prices of krill oil vs fish oil in a couple years, but from what i remember, krill oil was far more expensive. spend your money how you want, i'll stick with fish oil, unless a fair price comparison comes about.
Yeah, krill oil is quite a bit more expensive, but it's worth it (IMO). But fish oil is good, too, just not as good.
