Well, our journey to a local head shop today was a positive one as I was able to buy some Salvia. I was a little upset that they didn't just sell salvia and/or some salvia extracts. I bought a little box that contained a gram. It was from Salvia Zone and it is a red box with three pyramids on the front. They sell 4 types of salvia - Green(Personal Discovery), Yellow(Deep Self-exploration), Red(Visionary Quest), and Purple(Beyond). I bought the Red Visionary Quest type as it is the second highest. I am assuming that the higher versions just contain a higher extract. My friends and I concluded our journey and returned to my house where I got ready for my first salvia experience. I was worried about using any of my own pieces that I own because they are caked in weed resin, and I have to go to court tomorrow to drop for my PO. But luckily, my friend bought a brand new steamroller on our journey today, so I would be using that before he smoked any bud out of it. The hole in the bottom of the bowl on the steamroller was much too big to simply place the salvia in the bowl. So I used a little bit of tin foil, which I know is bad for you to smoke, and I think it ruined the taste of the salvia a bit. But anyway, I used a small piece of tin foil in the bowl, with some holes poked in it, and places the proper amount of salvia in the tin foil. I held the steamroller while my friend lit it using a candle lighter. I got a nice, big first rip off of it. I held it in for a good amount of time, probably close to 30 seconds. I then quickly took a breath of fresh air and hit it a second time. By the end of the second rip I could feel the effects kicking in. I immediately layed down on the couch I was sitting on. For some reason, I can't remember my exact physical feelings when I was tripping, nor can I remember any visuals. My vision was definitely skewed. The trip only lasted about 30 seconds, but the whole time I was laughing uncontrollably. While I was tripping I just got really annoyed that my friends were there and I felt kinda like they were ruining it for me. I felt annoyed and in a bad mood for about a half hour. About 10 minutes ago I tried using the salvia again in this little corn cob pipe I have that has only ever had tobacco in it. I put some tin foil in again, which I will never be doing again, and then added my salvia. I tried lighting it up, but I just could not get a big enough hit. The "trip" was only a weird feeling and I got really hot. Next time I will be using my beautiful water bong to get a nice and massive rip. I will probably wait to try again this weekend, either Friday or Saturday, since tomorrow my friend and I are gonna try out some DXM. Well I suppose I'll be the first to reply to my own post. I tried salvia again Friday night using my bong instead of that steamroller. I also didn't use any damn tinfoil for the screen. I found that using the bong and a glass screen helped the taste tremendously. After smoking the salvia I tripped for longer than I did my first time, but I had no hallucinations or visual distortions of any kind. I did almost start laughing uncontrollably again because my friend was making a ridiculous face right after I took the hit, but I held it back. The better part of this story is that my friend who was making the face took a hit of salvia about 5 minutes after I did. It was his first time with any psychedelic besides weed. Immediately after exhaling the smoke he went into a trance like state and you could definitely tell something was happening. We asked him how he was doing and everything, but he didn't quite respond. He began staring at my wall with a neutral face while lying on the love seat in my room, occasionally smiling at the wall. After a couple minutes of staring at the wall he exclaims, "Yes!" After he starts coming down and becomes coherent again we ask him what the hell he was looking at. He told us that he could see a face in the wall, with the mouth being on the arm of the couch. Now, he is looking towards the wall and the arm of the couch while lying down, seeing the eyes/upper portion of a face above the arm, and the mouth on the arm. A band of light from the window was going across what I assume was the upper lip of the face. This is a little late in my post, but the friend who was tripping I will call J. J and I are big fans of the Lord of the Rings. He said that when he exclaimed "Yes!", it was because that band of light suddenly had the script written on the one ring all across it. After hearing this I wasn't very surprised by his reaction to this happening. He said he enjoyed the trip but that it was very strange and not exactly what he expected, but not bad. I am about to smoke another bong of salvia before I go to bed in a little while. :cheers2: again!
I'll tell you... the first experience is why you need cool people around you. I've told my fellow pyschonaut to NOT talk to me, but last time--even after I gave her explicit instructions she STILL ran her mouth and broke my concentration. So my extrasensory travels with her will be limited. "but I wanted to know what you were seeing...". "Then wait until I'm done, and I'll tell you, but when you're talking to me, breaking my concentration, chances are...I won't see squat!!" So make sure the people with you are cool. Otherwise you've wasted $20 bucks.
^ That is exactly why I'd prefer to smoke salvia alone. You can get much deeper when there are no distractions, and like Illon experienced, sometimes just there presence is enough to bother me, even if they arent doing anything at all. However, I do not attempt high doses without a sitter. I've seen people get up and stumble around in complete delirum during a strong salvia trip. You need somebody to keep an eye on ya incase this happens.
My hats off to them then, b/c my muscles are useless on a sally trip. Get up and stumble around, hell I'm lucky if I can turn my head.
I agree, really heavy doses make it impossible for me to move. In fact, I dont even understand the concept of moving, my body or the universe when Im that far out there on salvia... But Ive seen it happen and its actually kind of frightening to watch. The guy had no recollection of the trip or moving around once he come back... perhaps there were some additional drugs or medication involved. I didn't really know this person very well, so who knows. Regardless, I havent smoked heavy dose of salvia without a sitter since that day.
I've got some friends who mix a little MaryJane with it, but nothing more. I know a couple people who've done lower doses+uppers.... sounds a recipe for a heart attack or a total flip-out to me!
Well thank you for all your responses! I did indeed smoke some more salvia last night after my last post. I smoked more than I had both times before which resulted in a pretty long and strange trip! I packed up my slide on my bong after turning the lights off and lowering the contrast on my monitor. Right before I took my hit I turned on "Feel like makin' love" by Bad Company, which turned out to be a somewhat bad idea. I ripped on that bong for a massive hit which burned up pretty much all the salvia on the bong. I held the hit in for what felt like a good 20-30 seconds and let it out. When I let the hit out I could feel the effects coming on, but I decided to try for a 2nd hit. I managed to get a pretty good 2nd hit off of it. So now I was slipping into a salvia trip with iTunes maximized on my screen, the lights off sitting in darkness, and "Feel like makin' love" playing. My iTunes started looking 3D while I was staring at it. The bar on the side looked normal, but the area displaying the songs looked like a 3D room with striped white and gray walls. I am pretty sure that after I took my 2nd hit out of my bong that I set it down to my left away from me, but for the duration of my trip I thought that I was either holding it still, or that I had dropped it resulting in a nasty spill. I am pretty sure that having "Feel like makin' love" on made me think that I was stuck in some kind of time loop, since a lot of the song is the chorus, and I just felt like it was repeating. I vaguely remember saying "Oh no" to myself when I realized I was stuck in some kind of loop. I also thought for some reason that something was going to happen and that I was going to be taken away by someone or something. I have read that a lot of people have trouble remembering exactly what happened in their trip, and I am definitely one of those people. It was a somewhat frightening situation, but I did enjoy it once I started coming down. I will also be trying salvia again for sure! Edit: And hydrolaw, you seem to be quite the negative guy(or girl). I would gladly try another psychedelic, as I have been searching around my area for anything else available. Came close to getting some shrooms yesterday, but the dumbass people we were getting them from got busted for a very stupid reason so no luck in that department.
someone i knew took a huge rip of salvia while tripping balls on acid, got up, and started banging on the wall screaming, "(insert name of friend present in room here) can you hear me?!" at the top of his lungs over and over again. he told me he felt like he was trapped inside of his skull (the room), and that he was stuck there forever. it'd be wise to keep somebody around.
Seconded!! Especially if you're trying a more potent form or mixing with another psychotropic drug! Actually mixing any drugs in with it--make sure you have someone around.
Yeah, I feel pretty lucky that I haven't experienced anything like what my friend did. So far my salvia experiences have been positive.
