Alright, this is my first time growing, and I have 10 seeds germinating, and i JUST put one seed into a pot. Any tips on how to make sure my plants dont die and to keep them healthy
A stress free life is a good tip for first few months from seed try and pot in biggest pots you can coz ideally ya never wanna repot till after a month or so. Never expose them to temps of over 80f aim for 75f if ya can. Never over water or over feed coz an under fed and under watered plant will always bounce back and the signs are easier to spot before its too late.
Just plan old baby bio a good first food for both plants and beginners. But what your looking for is the npk rating that normally writen on the back of the bottle, n=nitrogen p=phosphorous and k=potassium. For growing ya need a high nitrogen level with a low pk but for blooming you start to slowly move the other way and use a low n but high pk rated food (cacti and succulent food good). Also try and get one that says with added vitamin minerals or trace elements then ya wont have to worry about that side of things. As for soil a good old loam based and a 4 to 1 mix with perlite and a dash of vermiculite is good never use anything that say for cutting or seedling coz they will more then likely contain chemicals ya dont want. As a general rule with new soil you wont need to start feeding for first month as the soil will contain natural foods for the plant to be getting its teeth into. You soon see when there need feeding coz the leafs will start to first go a pale green and then the bottom one will yellow followed by the rest.
research on google will tell you most of what you need to know. there are a lot of good books/dvds also. Find a good hydroponic shop for food.
