Down With Disease on some alternative radio when I was 13. Only just got back into them when they broke up!
My daughter had Divided Sky playing on the computer all the time...it swept me up and changed my life.
I heard Bouncing Around the Room back in... February, from George. I haaaaaaated it and just detested Phish because of that. (haha I'm so open to new things ) Then he sent me some stuff in May... I think it was Sample in a Jar and Waste... I just about lost my mind and have been frickin hooked ever since... Ironically, Bouncing Around the Room is my favourite song to listen to at the moment..
95. My sweetie had an awesome cassette collection. I managed a show in 95 in a 3000 seat room which was technically brilliant but emotionally flat. Jerry died two months earlier and the scene had not adjusted. We had a cat named Possum, because she was so ugly she looked like roadkill and the song had been in my brain for a while. We caught far more Panic and a few years later has this cassette labeled "srting cheese" (sic) forced into our hands. now we just love catching new scenes.
i cant even remember my first phish song. but i know it was... in 2003 sometime when iw as in 8th grade... haha im a sophmore now. So i think that was 2003. But i think it was that satalite song from round room.... but i know that i heard them and just listened to them over and over and over again and havent stoppped
had to have been late 90s??? i heard cities on the college radio alot.. then i heard them again a couple years ago... at a place i worked they had junta and Phish and The Dude Of Life(yea.. i hear this is one of phish's worst albums.. not really a phish album anyways... but i kinda liked it though) and i was hooked
birds of a feather, then bouncin around the room (the live one version) sadly, i didn't get into phish until they were about to end.
it was golgi apparatus. I was in 15, my brother thought the song would help me with my biology homework
I was about four... my uncle was always playing guitar, smoking weed, trying to become a cartoonist, while going to UNC in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He was a big head and I think the first song I ever heard was probably Reba? I don't even remember. He was always carrying around a walkman and getting me to dance/sing to it. He died of heart failure at 40, last year. My first phish show was with him and I went with him when I got older to a string of six shows, in a row. That was probably one of the greatest times of my life.
I first heard a cover of "waste" consisting of a guitar, vocals, and a piano... no bass, no drums... and I felt so attracted to the song that it got stuck in my head for days afterwards. About a month and a half later, I bought Billy Breathes; lo and behold, track three was that very same song. Technically, "Free" was my phirst, but "Waste" hooked me way before.
It was christmas of 98 that I got Story of the Ghost, so I guess Ghost would be my first phish song. I listened to it a bit but didn't really appreciate the album (I just listened to what was on the radio back then, no real idea of musical taste) but later on I came back to it and loved it. Then years later I found out that Phish had a huge following behind it and was some kind of musical phenomenon.
Last summer a friend of mine was ranting about Phish on AIM. At the time I had only heard a few songs (cant remember which ones) and didnt think too much of Phish so I downloaded some songs off of limewire, the phirst song done downloading was Super Mario Brothers, thats when I got hooked.
down with disease was the first one I heard, it was on beavis and butthead way back in 94-95...... I didnt even know what the name of the band was back then, though..... first time I consciously listened to a phish song, it was boucing around the room, and I was hooked ever since. I downloaded it off napster in '99-'00, somewhere in there...
My friend had Junta playing when she picked me up for band practice, and I was like "What on earth is this s%#t? I love it!"" Must of been about 96? 97?
