However, if i just move the prompt down rather than clicking on 'okay' or whatever, I can still surf the internet without any problems... some problem, eh?
i havent seen an error message on the forums since last nite, and my firefox is still working perfectly fine (i've yet to shut it down). oh maybe i should've cleared that up: the firefox error message popped up while i was at hotmail, and is not in the browser window itself. it looks like:
unfortunately, MS windows makes things like this hard to diagnose. you should try and post the error report on here so that this problem can be treated most accurately. it actually reminds me of the "this program has performed an illegal operation" notification window from win98SE. a good possibility is that its a trojan designed to connect to the internet through your web browser and it is being blocked by firefox. this is actually good because if you were using IE then this trojan would be allowed to make its connecion causing further harm. not all trojans are detected by virus-scan and firewalls, etc. if i were to custom build a new trojan designed to use the weak visual basic programming found in IE then your virus-scan program wouldnt be able to recognize it as a virus because its not in its data. your firewall wouldnt even know its there either because it uses a currently connected program to communicate to the internet.
thnx, that does narrow this down a bit. 1) now try going to START > RUN > 2) type 'notepad' and then 3) open this location 'C:\DOCUM...|...aa79_aacompat.txt' (the one that is listed in the bottom screen shot in the second box. 4) copy and paste this info to this thread the problem appears to be a conflict with something in this file. this file is edited by the windows OS to creat error reports. that sounds ebarrassing for microsoft: an error in the error reporting. this file will have info on what the real error is. i will post back as soon as i get outta class. college
ok, i just took a peek at it and there are some missing fields in the firefox.exe portion of the script. these fields are required by other programs to communicate with firefox because they are integrated together. for example: firefox uses flash player to display certain files on ur screen. ORIGINAL_FILENAME="" ^that was just one of many. i didnt have to dig that deep to find more of these empty fields. its not a life and death situation, but it can be fixed easy. 1: go to add/remove programs and uninstall firefox 2: if you can, uninstall macromedia flash player 8.x 3: after this^ , then go to http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/ and download the newest flash player 9 (use IE, Opera, etc browser) 4: after that you can go to http://www.firefox.us.com/ and get the newest firefox browser if you do it in this order you shouldnt see that error anymore. post back
do i really have to uninstall/install it? cos even after the error message i could still do anything i wanted to with firefox, and still am.
lol, IE disease. nah. you dont have to reload them unless the problem exponentiates. macromedia flash player 9 is out now though and i hear that many websites are moving to it already. i figured u could kill two birds with one stone.
hey man try this first, do a repair on windows, then make sure all updates sp's ect... are done. Then re-install FF over FF if this doesn't work you have some bad files that can not be repaired. Then you should do a partion and move all that you wish to keep to that partion then format the partion that has windows and start over, ONE LAST THING WHAT DO YOU USE FOR ANTI VIRUS AND ANTISPYWARE you very well may have a worm or bug in dat box sorry REMEMBER BACK UP BACK UP BACK UP before you start anything hey my 2 cents I've been doing this kind of shit before PC came out Good Luck
Make sure you have Adaware and keep it up to date. I had a meeting with Spyware last year. I had a great time battling that one
I like the new IE a LOT better than Firefox. It has a larger viewing area because the buttons and words are minimalized. It also has a lot of new safety features, you'd have to check for yourself!
new IE has a lot of new safety features... but that wont help with the thousands of IE vulnerabilities. i mean the newest IE and its vulnerabilities. i did a speech to a college on the new IE and firefox. my research was from 12 credible sources. it is better but it still sucks.
