Ok, here's the thing: my fingernails keep splitting and breaking, it's like they've become brittle. Now, I work as a stock guy and I'm always opening boxes and so forth, so I can understand the occasional broken nail. But it seems the last few months it's gotten worse, and it keeps happening and the quick keeps being exposed, which hurts. Is this a vitamin deficiency or something? I'm healthy otherwise, but man I wish this would stop.

It may well be a vitamin/mineral deficiency. It can be a sign in the later stages of anaemia but I think there are others that affect nails. Saying that, I've just seen this on a website:

The website then goes on to recommend vitamin supplements! There's loads of info available online......
