just finished watching animal house again, then came on here to see what was new and I satrted to think about the part in the movie when boon, pinto and katie are getting stoned with the english professor. Pinto and the professor are talking about how our universe could be one tiny atom in the fingernail of a much larger creature and how every atom in our fingernails can be one tiny universe. Always found that to be kinda trippy to think about
Actually odds are it is true, at least from a given perspective. Given thatwe know of sub-atomic particles and systems millions of times smaller than we are, we can assume that there are correspondingly huger systems than what we can view. This is Copernicus Principle. Basically it says that odds are you are in the majority and far away from either end of the spectrum. i.e. You are here, living on earth, now and were not here 10,000 years ago because there are more people living on earth here and now than ever before. The reason you live in a modern culture with internet access and not in an Aboriginal tribe is because most people on earth today live in a modern culture and not in Aboriginal tribes. i.e. Odds are that we are in the middle ground of existence (in terms of size and complexity) and not the largest or smallest things existing. We know this to be true because we can observe something as small as an electron existing and something as large as a Galaxy existing. But once again, according to Copernicus principle it is unlikely we are capable of observing the smallest/largest entities in this existence. The real question is, when are we going to observe, whether through technological, evolutionary or chaotic developmen, the things that have either been to great or small for us to observe yet. You never know what's around the next corner! It could be an angel or a demon or just another pathway leading us there
The Animaniacs did a song about this. you can download it on almost every filsharing network! When i'm stoned, and hear this i start crying or giggle my fuckin ass of Yakko: Everybody lives on a street in a city Or a village or a town for what it's worth. And they're all inside a country which is part of a continent That sits upon a planet known as Earth. And the Earth is a ball full of oceans and some mountains Which is out there spinning silently in space. And living on that Earth are the plants and the animals And also the entire human race. It's a great big universe And we're all really puny We're just tiny little specks About the size of Mickey Rooney. It's big and black and inky And we are small and dinky It's a big universe and we're not. And we're part of a vast interplanetary system Stretching seven hundred billion miles long. With nine planets and a sun; we think the Earth's the only one That has life on it, although we could be wrong. Across the interstellar voids are a billion asteroids Including meteors and Halley's Comet too. And there's over fifty moons floating out there like balloons In a panoramic trillion-mile view. And still it's all a speck amid a hundred billion stars In a galaxy we call the Milky Way. It's sixty thousand trillion miles from one end to the other And still that's just a fraction of the way. 'Cause there's a hundred billion galaxies that stretch across the sky Filled with constellations, planets, moons and stars. And still the universe extends to a place that never ends Which is maybe just inside a little jar! YW+D : It's a great big universe And we're all really puny We're just tiny little specks About the size of Mickey Rooney. * Though we don't know how it got here * We're an important part here * It's a big universe and it's ours! * - In the original script, these lines were: YW+D : You might think that you're essential Try inconsequential It's a small world after all!
there probably isnt any "sides" to the spectrum,no extremes, only extremes relative to our limited perceptive abilities, which is a wild and wacky phenomena in itself
here's a piece of food for thought i recently heard that after mapping all of the "known" universe, astronomers looked at their map on a 3d scale and when observed at the right angle it looks alot like human figure. i look down at myself i see myself looking up at myself i am just a particle of energy stuck in a rut running around my city which is just a picture a computer chip the size of the universe on the head of a pin.
have u ever thought we r just entertainment for a bigger beings....like there is something bigger then us watching us everyday....im nt talkin about god or gods w/e u beleive in...but like another planet....no im nt talking about aliens...im talking about like bigger people that we nvr see.... like when well i have done this but sit and just watch ants or anything else do wat they do and it keeps u busy for awhile....we just might another ant farm on some kids desk
ive pondered all these things and ive come to think that everything is its own universe working and spinning to complete and keep every other universe in sync. we are all one, perfectly balanced and keeping it so. or maybe im wrong, probably am. it really doesnt matter because ill probably never know, i do know its all very beautiful and i think that if i can appreciate the beauty of things then it doesnt matter how they got here, what they are and why things happen...it just is, we just are, i just am and its wonderful.
this stuff can kinda freak u out if u think about it too much. just like forever. u cant imagine forever. everything has a start and end. and its all either a long time ago or far off. but to think of living forever is kinda hard to do.
The fingernail stuff is tripping me out so much. I keep imagining that I'm inside my own fingernail while I am typing, which is what is giving me this headache, and inside my fingernail is another guy just like me who is getting a headache from me typing,
so think about this too, if it is true when you cut your nails does that cause the universe in it to become non existent, and also when the nail grows is that the beginning of a whole new universe, think about all the molocules in one fingernail
