my mom has had so many symptoms that are weird. she's been to three different doctors, and all look at one part of the problem. it's really frustrating! one doctor looked at her, felt around, and said 'well, you don't have cancer.'
it drives me so crazy that these doctors look at a skin rash as just a skin rash.
    swollen joints as just that...
i even finally convinced her to go to a 'holistic' doctor who did the same thing.
    we're trying ayurveda next.
they say that, back in the day, doctors were general practitioners. meaning they looked at you as a whole. nowadays you go through a whole list of doctors for different symptoms, sometimes waiting weeks to get an appointment. bleh.

I've gone through rounds of doctors trying to actually pinpoint the cause of my heart problems, but alas... there has been no conclusion. They just say, "don't get too active and here are some pills." So, I understand exactly what you are talking about.

I think the only way to find a good doctor is by trial and error, or ask friends and family if they have any recommendations. I always had to search on my own for a general doctor because my mom prefers women doctors, but I prefer men, so she was of no help to me. The other thing your mom could try is going to a hospital instead of a general physician if she hasn't done so already.
