Hi guys! For those of you who remember me from a few weeks back - I've decided to see a NEW doctor (who I found highly rated online and it said he helps tremendously if you're in PAIN) I see him tomorrow - and am bringing him my old bottles of Norco that I've been on for 3-4 years, my xanax bottles, and my MRI. I had problems with my old doctor (you can look up my posts about "reducing your tolerance to see what the story was) I want to ask him to switch me from Norco to something that's slow release (as you all suggested to me) and since I've been on Norco for SO LONG and my body is use to it. But I don't want to meet him for the first time and bombard him with this. I am going to tell him my old doctor was ripping me off (all true), and I didn't feel I was getting good care. And ask if he can continue my treatment. And I will have my oldest bottle, and my newest bottle to show him I've been on them for years. (so it doesn't look like I"m BS'ing hiim) Does anyone have any suggestions for a sure way to get my meds from him? Do's and Dont's? I don't want to have to go back to my jerk doctor to get my meds refilled. I've been off of everything for about a month now and I'm in loads of pain. Thank you all! Much appreciated!
id let him know that you would like to either have your norco's upped or to perc's or be on some long release meds like oxycontin, or opana....and keep the norcos, but with out telling him....that if ya know what i mean, lol just make sure your clean too, im sure they'll be a pee pee test... id get notes if u had therepy or not, he may try that first before upping meds.... when i started my new dr, i started every 2 weeks for a while, then it went to 3, then to 4, sooooo......he may want to see you sooner than ur old dr was seeing you....most pain patients go once every 3-4 weeks....GOODLUCK!!! May he make the great opiate gods rain down upon you, lol and me!!!!!
Haha, I don't have my paperwork from my physical therapy, but I did go so I'm going to tell him that - I also don't have insurance, so I doubt a test will be done bcuz I don't have $$$ for that. haha Also, how would I keep the norco's? I don't have any? I was just on them for years, and would like to be bumped up now because they're not working. I was also on percs, I have the bottle for that too which I will bring with me. You guys think I can just go in and tell him "hey dude, I've been on these forever, can ya bump me up to stronger stuff"? OR should I just ask for my standard Norco's that I've been on, and then at a later time, ask him for something stronger? I'm bringing my bottles in because I don't want him to think I'm BS'ing him. And yes, I pray the opiate God's rain down hard tomorrow for us! hehe. I'm in so much pain and have been without anything for a month. I've been taking prescription Naproxen... MAJOR FAIL!
no, i would mosdef let him know that they are not working at all.......he may do the long acting meds, and keep the norco's, or do the long acting meds, and bump you up too.....i wouldnt leave till i had another rx for something stronger......its a give take ya know....u may get lucky u may not......
I don't understand... You said "he may do the long acting meds, and keep the norco's, or do the long acting meds, and bump you up too....." What do you mean? He could give me Norco's AND a Extended Release med? OR do long acting meds, and also bump me? Isn't that the same thing? I don't understand... It's not weird to ask a new doctor I'm seeing for the first time for something stronger? Won't he think maybe my last Dr wouldn't bump me and wonder if I'm Dr Shopping? I hate this! I am bringing my MRI as proof and my bottles, so ???
don't say Hey dude can you bump me higher i would say something like hey , i've been taking these meds for quite some time and they use to work in the beginning but now they make no difference. I'm still experiencing a few pains here and there and my i saw no progress with my old doctor. Is there any way you could up my dosage to something stronger or offer me a new treatment?
alot of PM patients are on long acting meds that control the pain, and u use ur fast acting meds for breakthrough pain.......so u might keep the norcos for break through, and he may give u long acting meds or u might get lucky and get both.....but like mike said, take the long way around asking, dont just say hey this is what i want, but stress that u are not living a comfortable quality of life.... edit...get both meaning that youll get the long acting and get bumped up on the fast acting...
I got cha - and no I wasn't gonna ask like that, lol. Just looking for a way to say it without alerting him - I don't take them recreationally, though I do like the buzz, but I dont' abuse them - it's just a bonus. I'll def try that tomorrow and report back Thank you for explaining it - hugs to you both!
