And I can't believe it, so surreal! Had my last meeting on March 8 and was told I should get my release paper that week or early the following (last week) after he did a background check. Was freaking out because I had an out of state speeding ticket (that he never heard about) I completely forgot about until just recently after talking to insurance! Was all bugged out cuz they didn't come last week and thought I might get a violation warrant; crazy thing is I dreamt of getting them last night and woke up to my room mate saying he had something I'd probably be interested in, ahhh free! Now to clean up the old pieces and get reacquainted! :cheers2: and :sifone: to y'all, that shit sucked!
Congratulations!! I'm currently on probo because of an incident involving a half oz, a scale, and some baggies. I was told by my po that although my max time is 5 years, I'm really only looking at 1-1.5. Right now I'm 10 months in and on the lowest level where I send in a piece of paper once a month and every 3 months I go in to say "hi." Thank God they don't drug test, I've stayed out of trouble, and my po always comments on how great it is to have such an easy case. She has talked about getting me off within the next few months, and I'm just wondering what you had to go through when your time was up. Any information is greatly appreciated because I havn't been able to find much out from other probationers.
my last meeting was the only time I dropped, then he just said he had to run a background check, then the judge would sign and the mailed me the release, not much to it which is nice
That's awesome man. My one concern is drug testing though. I got tested after my first court date but before the second where they put me on probo (a deal was made between the da, the judge, and my public defender the day I was informed of my first court date) and I havn't been tested since except for random ones during my 6 week outpatient rehab program. My drops were ALWAYS 100% clean. On the form from the judge there was all these different possible probation requirements including drug testing but the only one checked was the most basic probation program. I asked my po about drops and she said "only if something comes up where I would have a reason" so basically if I got arrested for something else. My plan is to stay clean and detox (I know from an at-home drug test way before any of this that I can test clean after a week) for the entire time between being told "ok next month is it" and actually receiving a letter or court appearance saying "all good. you're free." I'm wondering if I will even have to drop then but I'm going to play it safe for sure. Thanks for the response man, it feels good to talk to people with experience.
6 months of a 1 n a half year order left to go here, though i'll be down to monthly appointments soon hopefully :2thumbsup: plus my probabtion officer is a good guy. Well done for completing your order OP and congrats
My probation officer is pretty cool too. He's from Kenya. lol It wouldn't be so bad, if I didn't have to report to his office every week and pay $200 per month, which is difficult without a job. I still have $1300+ left on my fines.
Yeh its half the battle won if you get on with your PO, i remember you posted here after you had been to court, that was a sore one lol, anyway how the hell do they expect you to pay $200 a month if you've not got a job ? that's a heavy sum if your already skint, most people here in Scotland that get fines and are on benefits are usually expected to pay £10 a fortnight from there benefits and if they don't pay it a fines enforcement order is put into action which basically takes the money straight from your benefits,no big deal lol. The criminal justice in the US is tough going compared to the UK
There have been a couple of times I haven't been able to pay it, and everytime that happened, he said that I could have a warrant out for my arrest, if someone was to do some research and see that I didn't pay. I just pay it as often as I can and if I can't pay it sometimes, fuck it.....I can do a few days in jail. I'm not gonna stress myself to death over it.
Congratulations!!! My little cousin has 6 months left on his...he got it extended because he pissed dirty a few months back, and hasn't smoked since. When he gets off I'm making him a big batch of brownies and we're gonna bring them over to his house and eat and smoke with his dad and my husband.
