Fetal Alcohol Syndrome

FASD only happens when pregnant women drink booze during their pregnancy. It doesn't happen after it.
It affects the baby

 

I am interested about how much alcohol was consumed in ancient times by the most important people around the world and I am wondering why this was not documented very often. Am I right in thinking that most of the alcohol went straight to royalty and the elite and their children never suffered FAS?

Oh for sure in older times they drank lol, they were also into a whole assortment of drugs like halucigenics too. 100%.

 

I read that they all may have been tripping.

 

Well the Greeks were into it. Pretty sure the oracles were wasted on toxic fumes that came out of the earth. Vikings would get wasted on mushrooms, especially on their voyages across to the Emerald Isle. I think Egyptian may have been smoking drugs, not sure which. Romans used to get blitzed on drugs too.

Yeah. It definitely happened and wasn't regulated in the oldern days.

Apparently the next DSM may include FAS. Hopefully that helps sufferers be diagnosed and able to get the support they need.

I was speaking to a psychologist friend who informed me that there are many more people suffering from this than was first imagined. Thank goodness the dangers of drinking alcohol whilst pregnant are now understood much better. Absolutely horrific some of the issues that sufferers face. Many are unable to hold down a job or have normal social interactions.
