I guess rule number 1 would be that if you catch a ferrel cat don't bring it in the house just sit with it on the ground and pet it and let it go. I caught a ferrel cat at my place last night and brought her into the house and set her down. she usually will rub on you but when you bend down to pet her her takes off well she flipped out and was hissing and growling at us and then started to claw the door so we let her out. I hope she come back, and we will um work on the get friendly program
there is a stray cat that lives in our yard/porch. we keep her fed and all and i am hoping to keep her as an inside/outdoor kitty along with my other cat but she is afraid of people. she will let me get close to her now and she will sniff my hand but any more than that is a grand offense. if i cant get her socialized come winter then ill have to trap her and take her to the spca....im sure she could use some flea treatment and vet treatment in general. im going to try to bribe her with some tuna this weekend.
Good Luck Elle, this cat is just hell on the emotions you know. there is another ferrel cat around who is evil, she actually ran after me and tried to bite me
My cat was feral when the SPCA got him. He was only 6 months old though, so maybe he was young enough to be "tamed". The SPCA were going to put him down, but he seemed to like me... he would let me handle him without scratching and biting. They let me adopted him on a "trial" basis... but we've never had a problem. He is a normal house cat now, maybe a bit more of a suck than other cats actually.
