Ok - I posted this once in a different area but people's weird responses didn't make sense to me....maybe y'all can answer my questions? My friends always chop up a line on some foil, add a sprinkle of baking soda and a drop or 2 of water. Spread it out in a thin paste on the foil and then heat it underneath until some of the "opaqueness" burns off. Then we chase it. They say it's freebasing but I heard that just mixing with baking soda, it's crack. Don't you need ammonia to actually "free the base" ?
yea wat your buddies are doin is called smokin crack lol in order to make free base u need to add ammonia to to a solution of 1g coke and 10ml water until the whit precipitate stops forming, then add ethyl ether and shake then let sit. the freebase is now in the ether. siphon the ether out onto a plate slowly and let dry. white crystals will form and thats freebase.(caution! ethyl ether is a dangerous vapor and is known to cause explosions that is y there is crack)
they are both technically freebasing because in both scenarios (baking soda vs. ammonia) you are freeing the hcl from the cocain molecule(hence the werd FREEING THE BASE) when you use baking soda, the rock seems to crackle in the rose/stem hence the name CRACK but for some reason any ghetto shit involving cocaine and tinfoil seems to be called "freebase" my friends mix coke with a lil water and drop it on tinfoil and heat it and think their freebasing...eventually you just need to keep your mouth shut to avoid an argument everyday......and just let everyone think they right.
