    Hi,

we've just finished a 3 day long weekend here in Queensland and I had to go to a lot of different places during that time. As I went from city to bush and the ground changed from concrete to mud to dust it occurred to me that one of the main pleasures of being barefoot is the different textures underfoot. I like to feel the following under my bare feet:

    1) Hot dirty city streets so that I can feel the dust underfoot and between my toes.

    2) Hot dusty roads. In Australia we have something we call bulldust, it is very fine, like walking through talcum powder. It is often up to your ankles or deeper.

    3) Mud - not too wet, just so it leaves a well defined foot print

    what does everyone else like?

My favourite is beach sand... it's quite clean where i live. and the soft mud where the tide just grazes the sand. soft gravel is nice too... the type they put around churches and in playgrounds :) Also the squishy mud at the bottom of a river that sucks your feet down.

Silt on the bottom of the river is neat. Your feet sink in deep and it's so fine that it feels like satin. Dew soaked grass and gooey mud are soothing too. Sun-baked pavement and cement feel like they are giving energy to you.

    My favorite:

Cool tile as in a grocery store

Soft wet grass to get your soles green-not a lot of that here though

    Cool soft earth

Just say "NO" to shoes and socks.

moss. moist, springy, green moss. feels so-o-o-o good to walk on! definately my favorite.

i too love warm pavement. i love the way warm, rough sidewalk makes my feet feel!

around here in older neighborhoods there are stretches of sidewalk that are paved with big slabs of smooth pinkish and bluish stone. they feel so smooth and nice & they're wonderful to walk on.

old smooth bricks feel good under the feet too. and cool marble floors.

i also love satiny river silt, and just-soft-enough mud.

I like to walk barefoot across tarmac. It gets the souls super Black!
I think it's sexy.I like walking barefoot in grass.Or walking out of a
garbage strewn club, with spilled beer and everything else on the floor, after dancing all night.I've done it.It feels great.
    Geting in a taxi barefoot,I've done it.It's no big deal to me.If I don't
    wanna wear shoes I don't.

My favorite feelings are grass, and the this black stuff that the city puts on the road to fill cracks. It is mushy and feels awsome on your feet when it is hot outside.:)

My favorite surface has got to be moss. It is like a very expensive carpet underfoot.

I love the feeling of walking in mud barefoot. It's all cool and squishy. I also like walking in cold wet grass like when it's raining or right after. Those are my favorites.
