I have to admit I watched Candy man when I was a little older and after I had watched all the freddy's which I love, and therefore found it all a bit dull and unoriginal, maybe I should watch them again or read the book. I know its based on the 'bloody mary' myth, but do you know why he's called Candy man? S
Sweets to the sweet. *scratches head* Jesus, you know I can't remember, & I do not have the book any longer. I know he was poor and murdered himself, if I remember correctly. Candyman was a Clive Barker story called The Forbidden, orginally. Maybe someone can shed light on that part. I think I read that book when I was twelve.
Been thinking more on this...I'm going to probably have to rent that one again..I haven't seen the movie either in quite some time. I do remember thinking he's actually what I pictured from the story though...In utter surprise. I think maybe the candy was a lure, or he used to peddle it. Maybe he was a heroin junkie? They have a taste for sweets... Shit..I'm really hoping someone will refresh my memory on that. Ye olde RAM just ain't what it used to be.
Amazon dot com says three..If it wasn't carried by our local rental joint back then I didn't see them. I only recall #1. Have netflix now, they have a fairly decent selection. Haven't heard anything about the other two...
I remember a report where it said they breed a new bee for the film without a sting, sounds kinda extreem to me S
I always thought that Jason and Micheal where quite similar and that jason was a cheap copy of Micheal. whispers that, don't want Jason coming for me in my sleep! S
michael is my favourite because whats his motive? the othes have some kind of motive or reason but michael, none - that i can think of. for michael's lack of real reason he is my favourite.
Micheals on the other poll so you can vot efor him if you like, the thread next to this one at the moment S
didn't micheal just go mad as a little boy because he saw someone rape and kill his mother or sister or something and he escaped from a mental asylum and started killing, anyone know?? S
Yea lets get our facts straight about horror movies. Friday the 13th was a cash in on the slasher craze started by Carpenters Halloween which featured Michael whose motive (which wasnt fully revealed up until movie 6) was that he had to destroy his entire bloodline to be able to cross over. Jamie Lee Curtis played i believe his sister. As for Candyman, its based on a clive barker book and to say the movie was unoriginal is just ridiculous, the movie addresses so many themes, is something real even if you dont believe it? The movie can be told to children as a bedtime horror story, its practically perfect, and to say candyman is a knockoff of nightmare on elm street is to say that the howling was a ripoff of american werewolf in london. After much though, i voted for Candyman, it was tough to decide between him and Freddy because of all the slashers, im most faithful to those 2.
candyman seemed a bit of a knock of of the 'bloodymary' myths, that if you say her name in the mirror 3 times she will come and get you. you could have voted for both fred and candyman though S
Pin Head in the Hellraiser series was the ultimate villian, because he was totally and completely without conscience :X Hotwater
